I somehow feel vaugely selfish or greedy even doing this, but then that could just be me cringing at actually asking for things. ...or I could just be feeling guilty because I am greedy and selfish.
Or I could be reading entirely too much Lancelot in T.H.White, wherein Lancelot is the master of the guilt trip and makes me want to clock him with a very heavy blunt instrument. >:P Seriously. Is he the prototype for the Angst-Ridden Hero, or what?!
Step One
- Make a post (public, friendslocked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.
- If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.
- Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ, or link to this post (it'll be public) so that the holiday joy will spread.
Step Two
- Surf around your friendslist (or friendsfriends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:
- If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it.
You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call.
There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.
1. Paint Shop Pro 9. Someone, please tell me how to save my icon-attempts so they don't turn out bad? They look okay when I cut/paste and resize, but then I go to save them and try to share - and meh. x.x Is it the way I'm resizing, is there a general 'quality for internet' function I'm missing, what?!
Either that or point me to a nice set of tutorials for this thing?
...or, you know. If it completely sucks and there's something better/easier I could be using, feel free to point that out. This is my first shiny graphics program, so I have no experiance to judge with, here. Except I want to use to it, I like what I've been able to do, I just can't get quality icon-size! ._.
2. ..okay, and this one is related to the above. Because I can't make it yet, myself. x.x I would love a animated Bull and Karat icon.
One that shows first Bull, with the words 'Easily distracted' and then Karat, 'by shiny objects!' It would be the second Bull (multiple personalities, his hair is a bit wild and always falling over the left eye) preferablly a dark shot or him looking a bit confused or annoyed? Then Karat all shiny and happy! More screenshots here!

4. For everyone who has a pet to buy them some sort of toy for Christmas! Although I'm not sure what would count for fish... extra plants to swim through maybe? XD

Rec me some music? ...I am lousy at remembering music classifications, I usually just listen and see if I like it or not, so - some artists I like are: The Cruxshadows, Metallica, Disturbed, this one band called She Wants Revenge that I've heard on a local alternative radio station and still haven't managed to find a cd for! *end mini-rant* some Loreena McKennit, Reba McEntire...
On second thought, try it this way - name me anything except whatever it's called wherein the singer (usually male but not always) is singing in such an awful hoarse incoherent voice that I cannot understand a word he's saying. Because that just annoys me. >:P Anything else, cool! ^^
7. And books! I like books! Usually fantasy/science fiction, but other things are cool too.
( I'm going to run out of thoughts before I reach the end of this meme. This presents a problem. ...Because it is also my wishlist, and I can wish for silly/comfy things anyway, I have a solution! I can, in fact, ask for completely ridiculous things! :D )
8. You know those Cockroach Clusters they made for the latest Harry Potter movie? I would like someone to buy one. And eat it. And tell me what it's like. Because there is no way I will ever able to bring myself to eat one of those things - it's just too gross. I have killed roaches, and shall again should the need arise. Having done so, I have -40 desire to eat anything remotely roachlike.
And yet, I am curious. I have stared at them at work, like the thing is going to de-roachify itself so I can try it. >.>;
9. I want a lollipop. A really cool lollipop. *whistles*
10. For someone to tell me when it snows really near Florida - in Georgia maybe? Does it snow in Georgia? I know it doesn't snow in Florida. :( But when it does snow near Florida, I want someone to tell me so I can go and see it! (Planning for slow checking-up of the car and practicing with my camera for this - I'm pretty sure I should have it looked at some. >.> )
Of course, planning this at all is going to take some thought. I'll have to arrange for extra-long weekends maybe! But it would be nice for someone to tell me anyways. ^^
And by now I am falling over asleep, still not getting to sleep when I told myself I would, and I have plans tonight - I have to hunt down my White Christmas coffee! *.* Yay mall-hunting. And then hopefully enjoying of the mall, once I've found it. And then coming home and working on my Yuletide and the Bdaman post I need to do and - why am I typing this and not sleeping? ^^;;;;
