Was playing BoF3;had to quit when I got to the part where you lose Teepo and Rei. Fixing this being the whole focus of my attempts at writing fan-fic for this game.
Sat there fiddling with paper-stuff and several things began to hit me, one after the other, all fic related.
Item the first: Despite the fact that Neville complains about Uncle Algie's enthusiastic fits, he has them himself. Except when he gets that energetic, he's suddenly asking 'why' about everything, and there just aren't enough answers in the world. XD Pointing this out to him resulted in a major sulk, as he'd apparently rather eat glass than admit to having anything in common with his Uncle. LMAO!
Item the second: Despite never finishing any fics, there is a certain pattern in how they develope, and that is this.
Start with a general idea of what i'm doing, maybe just a one shot or something short; in comes my favorite character, usually not the main hero, but often a villian or side character, with an idea that will end up with them having everything they wanted, or not being dead, etc. And then the thing takes on a life of its own, becoming increasingly complicated.
Interestingly enough, this making things too complicated? I have noticed also happens when I'm drawing. Yes, I've gotten good enough now that I can actually say I'm drawing, although not alot; I also tend to redo things constantly, variations on a theme.
Examples, in fic:
Ronin Warriors/Samurai Troopers.
Favorite character: Shuten.
Runners up: Tie between Seiji and Anubis.
(Something to know about this is that I count it as my first fandom. Sure, I'd had things I obessed over before, Star Wars mostly but some other shows. But!
I was online, back in the days when we first got access, looking for Star Wars stuff. I don't even remember what, because I found a Ronin fic site. ^^ Now, I had just started to get into them as well, due to the fateful morning when I woke up, stumbled out of bed, and flipped through channels; heard a horrible scream that kinda woke me up; and went back in time to see poor Shuten lying there and the Ronin guys standing in front. Dude, I so had to know what happened to the cute red-head. XD
And then I found this lovely fic-archive, and in a frenzy of joy, started to look for everything I could find about them. Some days later, when I knew everyone name's and rival-ries, I hit the motherload and found the promised land when I found Mink's site. ^_^ *hears choir of angels, etc*
Because suddenly, it all made sense. While Shuten, of course, was so, so my boyfriend (I shall now hide in the humiliation of admitting that) I had been wondering what was wrong with Anubis. And now! It made sense!
Clearly, he was too busy lusting after Seiji to think properly! ROTF,LMAO!!!)
So, the red-head shows up with this proposal: Shuten: "You know how you wish I hadn't died?"
Me: "Yeah?"
Shuten: "And the thing you have about Seiji and Anubis?"
Me: "Yeah?"
Shuten: "Well..." *goes into long spiel about exactly how Arago could win the war and Seiji could be captured, etc.*
Which then somehow grew into Shuu also getting caught, (Rajura's 2 cents) and then the other 3, who had sadly been killed, getting re-incarnated, (what, you thought Ryu would take this lying down?) and eventually the world (spirit, I can't remember the name of it now) getting destroyed, as well as all the guys dying, in a massive final battle. O.o I will not attempt to touch this until I have all the tapes, and the movies, and... just...O.o
Or, CT&T-which sounds like the name of a phone company.
Favorite character(s) CT-Magus CC-Tie between Lynx and Norris.
Original proposal: Lynx somehow gains control of Serge.(And given thier relationship as father and son and the fact that Lynx is felinoid, the squick factor on this sucker started off on the roof, it didn't need to go through it. O.o)
Ultimate result:Two main alternate realities for Chrono Cross, when I realized my Norris is, in fact, Magus re-incarnate.
1. The thing with Lynx, and he was toying with Glenn before Serge shows up; Viper Manor is the soap-opera scenario of all the games I've got. (Seriously. Think about game canon plot for that place: The general is raising the child of his worst enemy, with the scientist who was present for the mysterious circustances of her birth and her mother's death also there; his daughter is involved in a love triangle that also involves the mysterious death of her fiance; it just keeps going on and on...) And Lynx is just another dynamic in the Days of our Islands, you know. It's a mess, but eventually turns out right.
2. The 'wtf?!' for CC, the one Norris threw me before I knew who he really was. The one where things got screwed up in El Nido waaay back in history, where in the Chrono Trigger, Serge, is born into a world at war. << I tired to smart my way out of this one; I should never try that. See, I asked 'How can Serge be the Chrono Trigger if you've altered the circumstances of his death, then?' *is veryvery smug, having averted disaster*
Norris, whose eyes for the first time show the shift over into Magus's red: "That moron Flea killed him, during a battle on Arni beach."
Me, sputtering: "But-but... what? the? Flea?! How the hell did Flea get involved?!"
Norris: "I freed him and the other two idiots from the Bend in Time, of course. Those are my henchmen,after all."
Sort of went from there, to the discovery that Glenn was Glenn (he thinks it's odd but convieniant that he kept his name) to the eventual saving of the world only to have the war continue, because you know, Norris aka Magus is nothing if not obessive, possesive, and hell bent on world conquest. >.<
Chrono Trigger: Original proposal: See above re: Magus personality? Can be summed up in thier original game with the words 'My Glenn. Mine.'
1. What happens when a young Magus gets ahold of a younger Glenn before he can cement his friendship with Cyrus? For one thing, Leene actually dies, hence Marle, hence the CT crew, minus 2 members, has to deal with a timeline all of whack; for another, the trio of idiot henchmen might be easy to knock off, but you don't breeze past Glenn like that...
2. What if when they got to the future, they never found out about Lavos? How late is too late to start saving the world? <<;;
Good lord I sound dramatic.Maybe I should be writing now instead of typing...
And on and on in rather similar veins, including but not limited to: Yami no Matsuei, Mega Man (Legends and some amount of what came before) Harry Potter, I think in the dim mists of memory there was something about Thunder Cats, but that was daydreaming before I'd even heard of fanfiction...
Current edging towards disaster: Teepo, BoF3, would like to be hooked up with Fou-lu, BoF4. I cannot begin to detail the problems just crossing realities would cause, since they are different realities not times. >.<
Yeah, I complain, but someday I will get these things finished, not in bits and pieces everywhere. And then I will be happy! ^_^
