No doubt this needs editing. And there needs to be more of a timelapse between noticing things are off with Ryou and running into the Troopers. Still. ^_^
"So, you actually talked to Bakura? I mean..." Anzu looked down at Yugi with a frown.
Yugi sighed. "Yes, Anzu. And he sounded fine - I mean, well, he sounded awful. Like he'd really been sick. But not possessed or anything!" He smiled his brightest smile, hoping it would put her at ease, but it didn't seem to be working.
She shook her head, and continued talking as she got her books out of the locker. "Well, I still say we should go and visit him. Even if he is sick, who knows what could happen while he's weakened like that!"
Honda snorted. "And what are we gonna do, Anzu? Ring his doorbell and say 'Hi! We just wanted to make sure you're not possessed of an evil spirit out to destroy us all - again! Mind if we hang out and stare at you like a bunch of freaks?' " He gave her best flat stare, which was ruined by Jou giving him noogies.
"C'mon, man! If Bakura says he's okay, then we ought to trust him! Besides, aren't we supposed to be waiting for Mai? Now let's get outside already!"
He was already heading for the doors as Anzu objected. "Hey! This is - important..."
Yugi sighed. "I don't know, guys. Don't you think we might be getting a little jumpy because of things being so quiet?" He looked up at them as he shouldered on his backpack, and saw the two of them exchanging a slightly embarrased glance. "See? Why don't we just go with Jou and Mai and have a good time for once, without any of this magic and saving the world business." He beamed and headed for the doors himself, meaning to escape any possible replies the way Jounouchi had.
Only he still heard Anzu saying his name reproachfully. And he was pretty sure Honda muttered something about hiding in bushes, which he did not want to hear explained. Even if his other self did have a pretty good suggestion of what it meant. And approved of the idea in general.
He was just trigger-happy.

"Come, where is the kid?" Shuu stretched, smirking as he noticed a couple of playground bullies edging away. "It's not like we got all day, here." He glanced over at Seiji to see if he was getting any response. Like that was going to happen. "This is boring!" He half yelled it, and leaned back onto Seiji's car, half-hoping he'd say something about it.
A patient sigh, and a fairly mild glare. From Seiji. He was just considering where it would rate on the scale and how long he was going to get away with sweating on the guy's car when he started bolt upright. "Maa, Seiji - that kid's hair is freakier than yours!"
"Nani?!" He turned, just his head at first, just looking - and then his whole body. "That is not possible."
Shuu snorted. "Sure it is. Looking at it, aren't we? Wonder what they're doing here..."
"Um, Shuu?" Jun's voice piped up as he elbowed his way through the crowd. "It's a school. They go here." He bowed slightly to Seiji, who nodded and would have gotten in the car.
If Shuu hadn't still been standing there staring. "So, who is he? He seems kinda familiar for some reason..."
Jun sighed and rolled his eyes. Unfortunately, whatever explanations might have been given were lost on Shuu. He could half-hear the kid, it was just the blonde that had pulled up and was talking to one of the Mouto kid's friends. What was he, her little brother or something?
"But if we need to know what's going on, then how do we talk to them? I hardly know these guys, it's not like we're in the same form!"
Jun was talking to Seiji, but this Shuu had caught. "We need to know what's going on, huh? How do you mean that?"
"Shuu, don't be rash." Seiji said it sternly, staring at him. "We want to speak to them, not frighten them. The Mouto boy - has some sort of energy about him that seems familiar."
"Hey, this is me you're talking to!" Shuu tried his best innocent grin. The one Shin insisted was a smirk, but what did he know about it? It worked on everyone else! ..Except Shin. And now Seiji, and Jun. "Look, I'm just gonna go over there and say hi to thier lady friend, what harm can it do?"
He turned and started across the yard before they could answer that, and after a minute he heard Seiji following. Seiji and not Jun? "Seiji?"
"Jun-chan is watching the car. And doesn't want to talk to the boys with Mouto anyway, apparently they used to be bullies." The tone of his voice left no doubt what he thought about that, but Shuu was pretty sure he wasn't going to do anything about it.
As they approached, the blonde woman's voice reached thier ears before anything.
"Oh come on, Jounouchi! You can't be thinking you have a chance against Kaiba!" Seiji seemed to wince at the sound of her laugh, but that was just Seiji - Shuu figured he'd wince at anyone laughing at that loud. Or glare.
"Hey! Just because he pulled off a last minute win the last time, doesn't - " That was the blonde guy, who got interrupted by his friend.
"Last minute? Jounouchi, he wiped the floor with you!"
And the girl with the brown hair, "Well, what did you expect after he took the guy's Blue-Eyes?"
"Yeah, ol' Kaiba gets a little loopy about those..." The brown haired guy, scratching his head now.
"Kaiba-kun is not loopy about the Blue-Eyes! He has a very special connection with those cards!" That was the Mouto kid. Even this close, it still looked as if that had to be fake.
And now the blonde chick had noticed them. She didn't seem too happy about it, either. "Excuse me, can I help you gentlemen?"
Shuu shoved off the momentary disturbing feeling that he was talking to Shin, and pulled up his best charming smile. "Hello! I was just wondering if you'd like a guide around town after you get your little brother home?" Now why was her mouth dropping open like that?
"Little... brother? Oh, you don't mean - you can't mean him?!" She was covering her mouth and he didn't understand - what did he say? What was she laughing for?
Then he was being shaken by a faceful of angry teenager who left him in no doubt what he'd said. "Hey who do you think you are, ya big jerk?! I'm not her brother, I'm - I'm." He actually stopped yelling for a minute to blink confusedly, which Shuu took as an opportunity to shove him back - and had that been a glow behind the kid? But the blonde was back up and yelling again, so he couldn't see. "It doesn't matter what I am, ya leave Mai alone ya big jerk"
Shuu smirked. "I'm a jerk? I'm not the one putting on a show for your whole school, now am I kid?" He took up a kendo stance to brace himself, but a hand landed on his arm. He glanced over and saw Seiji shaking his head. "Seiji! The kid is asking for it, and it's not like I'm gonna hurt him or anything."
"Why you little!" The blonde crouched like he was about to go for it, when a new voice rang out.
"Stop, Jounouchi!"
And he wasn't the only one. Shuu watched as 'Mai' stopped laughing, and the rest of them all fell back or half turned - it was the Mouto kid! Or was that...?
He stepped back, looking to Seiji. "Seiji? You got a clue what's going on here?"
Seiji whispered. "I have suspicions." Then he stepped forward, focusing entirely on the boy who was at least a foot shorter than himself. "Hello, Mouto-kun. If you would care to speak with us, there are some things we'd like to know."
Shuu could feel his jaw dropping. Kun? Where did 'kun' come from all of a sudden?
Mouto was replying though. "I don't want anything to do with those who threaten my friends, Mr..."
"Hey, he started it pal!"
"You were hittin' on Mai!"
"What, and that's a crime?!"
"Boys!" She yelled it loudly enough to make everyone stare, then tossed her head and folded her arms with a smirk. "Look, Jounouchi, haven't we been over this?"
Judging by the way he blushed and kicked the ground they had. "Well, yeah, but Mai - I mean lookat the guy!"
"Didn't your Momma teach you it's rude to point, kid?"
"And you!" She snapped. "Not that I'm not flattered? But I'm really not in the mood right now, okay?" She was giving him a pretty level stare for a minute, but then looked over to the kid again. No doubt about his being the leader of this little gang, then. "Yugi? I believe you were trying to ask this guy something." And she made a little show of pointing at Seiji.
Who didn't spare her a glance. "Date Seiji, Mouto-kun."
"Well, Date-kun. Perhaps you and your friend would like to explain to us why you felt it nescessary to come here." The kid had a pretty impressive glare, he had to admit that.
"They came here to pick me up, actually."
Everyone's head turned to look at Jun, who shrugged, looking worried. "Seiji, Shuu? There's someone on the line -"
It is so past nap-time.
"So, you actually talked to Bakura? I mean..." Anzu looked down at Yugi with a frown.
