(no subject)
Well, I feel worn out and frustrated right now. Mostly because I still haven't gotten myself to sit down and find my place in the NaNo.
What I have done: More cleaning
Took my car to get her oil changed, and ordered a new passenger side mirror.
I have carrots cooking right now. Yuck. But they're good for me, right?
Made a donation somewhere. :)
Laundry!
And yesterday, I went to pick up the newest YGO. We have reached Millennium World #5, and there are no words for the love. LOVE, I tell you!
omg, Kazuki Takahashi is insane. XD
I always love his tiny writerly blurbs at the beginning, but some of them do stand out: this one telling how long it took him to break into the business and that perseverance is the key! In really sincere happy language! ...next to a picture of the Pharaoh looking almost like he did in the first few episodes, with a note that reads 'Guess what! I was originally going to do a horror manga!'
AHAHAHAHA like we didn't notice, omg. XD
And there is so much here, all those beautiful details that make the story consistent, that shows people who were reduced to cardboard in the anime with their proper depth. Thief King Bakura interacting with the ghosts in a way that really reminds you he grew up with these things. And his thinking that this time, the priests will be the sacrifice. Just. *shudder*
The Pharaoh, constantly surprised by TK Bakura's strength. He keeps thinking, essentially 'Okay, I've got him now! ...what?!'
'Okay, now I - AUGH!!!'
There's a point where he told Bakura to go to hell, and he meant it. None of the shiny laughing rage with which the three main guys tend to regard, no 'wheee!' in it. And it occurred to me for the first time that maybe Yugi cannot help his little blind spot when it comes to Ryou. Maybe that pain and anger got etched so deep that he can't be friends with the guy with completely disconnecting him from his past. Which doesn't make it right, and I'm still ranting every time he refers to Ryou in helpless puppy terms? *seethe*
But I do think I get why now.
And then. Then that lovely point where the world turns on its head. And nothing in the anime begins to do justice to what Ryou made, all the lovely intricate. little pieces and the size of the thing and the fact that it's hidden in a room behind the Tablet of Memories. XD Nevermind that the unconscious bodies of Yugi-tachi are lying in coffins (sarcophagi?) off to the side of the table and behind Bakura? XD Akhenaden's Mummy! XD
He's been bloody channeling the guy's spirit - which is as much to say Zorc's spirit - the whole game. And you know, I don't even have time to get into the Bakurae debate here. Who is it! Which one, because he's got to be back in control of Ryou's body here but - gah. It's going to need a whole other entry to go into that. ...I love my boys. ^_^
Tomorrow - because this must be described in proper detail - How Bakura and the Pharaoh argued over who gets to play with Seto!
AHAHAHAHAHA!!!
