Hello, dear Worldbuilder!
You already have my dnws, so here are things I generally like: found family, world building, plotty stories.
Some fandom specifics, if you're so inclined! I know some people like minimal prompts and the tags for this exchange work wonderfully for that.
Books of the Raksura - Martha Wells I've always loved the way the Three Worlds defines 'predator' as 'eats people' rather than just eating meat. That said, what kind of people get attacked by shape shifting predators and think 'aha! breeding stock!' and apparently also 'eh we can train them out of that'. XD Honestly the Arbora are creepier than the Aeriat, for that. Just. What?! I honestly feel like more of their culture overall comes from the ancestral Arbora than the Aeriat, mainly because the Aeriat to this day are not makers, whereas the idea of any Arbora with nothing to do is terrifying, they are feverish about it.
Alternately, what goes into formally splitting a court, as we're told happened during the migration out of the Reaches. Their lives are so interwoven, I have trouble imagining it as anything other than traumatic. Or the Fell-Raksura hybrids, even generations into the future?
Pacific Rim Honestly just. The world must have collectively lost its mind when the kaiju started showing up, like. We've been writing/speculating about such things for possibly all our history and here they are?! The conspiracy theories/speculation/art must have been and would continue to be insane. And Newt's tattoo and the offhand mention of kaiju groupies, just. Yes that would absolutely be a thing, and worse things than just that. Tell me about the superstitions that build up around the entire mess, the things pilots say they've seen in the drift, all the insane worldbuilding that humans do as a matter of course, and the course it takes in a world where freaking giant monsters and mental links to be able to fight them are an actual fact.
Kittens Game KITTEN CIVILIZATION!!! XD This is just majorly cute and honestly sometimes also disturbing? Unicorn sacrifices, man. And banishing alicorns to the blood moon! What. How do they even learn these things? Does the Order of the Sun get along with the whole blood sacrifice group, or are they like different orders in the same overall religion?
Also why do zebras hate me dammit?! We only bit them on the ass that one time, it was a younger kitten who just couldn't control herself around the swishy tails! D: (I am completely silly about this game, go nuts)
Gravity Falls Let's be honest, I just adore Stan and his inane grifting schemes and the fact that he was the unlikely hero at the end of it all. But also, how do people even deal with all the wierdness?! Like, is this stuff incorporated into local law? Like, it is illegal to do shit that people know will wake up a local spirit, for example.
Why is pug trafficking illegal?! I mean, like. Presumably one could just go to a pet store/rescue and buy/adopt a pug? Except not? Why does Stan have an illegal shipment of puppy, why are puppies illegal?!
Also, how the hell did Stan even get all the things for the portal of dammit Ford. I presume Ford was able to pull strings/buy shit initially, but after that it's all up to Stan and Dubious Means.
