Aug. 12th, 2004 08:06 pmSecond draft, first one having been eaten.
Stupid online connection.
Went outside to try and watch the Perseids. Haven't done anything like that in forever, since I'm not really an outdoors-y person. Had to go back in to get a towel to lie on. And realized as time wore on that I should have had pants on, and maybe some sort of mosquito repellent. And maybe a pillow. Thus I was nearly eaten alive by small flying bugs, and I have a tiny bit of a ...crick? Sore spot? I am more aware of part of my neck that I am accustomed to being!
But. I saw two Perseids-comets, which are the first of anything like that I've seen since I was little. ^^ They're so fast you have to really really be looking. And I'm not in a good place for it, had the stupid next doors' floodlight to contend with. >:/ And clouds!! *whines*
They were pretty, though. One of them seemed to have shot out of this group of stars that might have been a Dipper? I couldn't tell. Eventually I had to go in. It was getting too light out.
I think I remember dreams better when they have this surreal quality. When they're more vivid they fade as soon as I wake up, but the surreal ones, the dreaming dreams stay with me more.
So it was sort of video gamish? Time travel, and trying to fix something that had gone wrong... And everything seemed to be happening in fairly enclosed spaces, like a mine and this small forested road with the trees over hanging it. And the castle. Which amused me in that it served as a giant progress meter for how well we were doing. Get it right - castle became cleaner and more lived-in looking (but still no people) get it wrong...
Suffice to say that at one point we came back to people there? ...only they should not have been moving? x.x
When we did eventually fix everything, we came back and it was just this bustle of activity and everything was gleaming - pretty! No one much could see us except this one guy who seemed to be some sort of wizard-authority-figure. Who said I opened our time portal thingy and as such had to go last - it would close after me. One of my friends insisted on staying with me, and that we could go through it together. <3 'Cause dream-me was kind of upset there.
The rest of me kind of speculated that two people going through like that might mess things up, but I woke up before I got to find out.
And then I got up. To notice the power out. And learn from Dad that we had a small tornado touch down up the road, causing the aforementioned power outage and tearing things up down there. x.x Also, the storm named Charlie (Dad says it's due to be a class 3 hurricane when it lands?) is supposed to be hitting maybe a little too close to here. He was wondering if I will even be going in to work tomorrow.
I told him, I'll find out when I get in. Like the last time we had a storm come too close, there will be pep-talk/what-to-do-in-the-case-of/ and whether or not we need to come in tomorrow. I'm... kind of not sure what to think of this. I've never actually been in a hurricane, and this is the second time one will have come this close. Going to be a busy and interesting night.
