crossover from hell
May. 24th, 2005 06:46 amWith Shusu! :D
And characters that don't belong to me! >:p
And. *sings* This is the scene that will not end! o.o;;
A note on communication, since it's about to get tricky : ~ speech ~ is for Yugi/Pharaoh communication, as well as Ryou/Bakura. This is the fun part where I try to make it clear who is speaking to whom without doing more than that. ^^; Italics is armor-communication.
Also, at the point I've placed this (post- Battle City, pre-anthing else) I don't think that Yugi realizes he's the Pharaoh's reincarnation. (Although, how he figures Pharaoh is another him, without following that thought to the logical conclusion, I do not know. I'll just be wishing the manga would hurry up, now. )
It was amazing how little the babbling of teenaged boys could do to drown out an uncomfortable silence.
That might have something to do with said silence being reinforced on both sides. Seiji had been keeping his eyes on Motou since they came in, and the watchful glare was mutual.
"Seiji
." Shuu muttered around a mouthful of chicken. Will you stop staring? We don't even know the kid's a threat! ...Freaky, but not a threat.
Of course he didn't even look away. "Hn." We don't know what he is at all. Suspicions that he is connected to Nasuti's missing disc -
"Okay, look." Mai had her hand resting on her chin. "I don't know what you gentlemen are doing talking to these kids," she smirked just a bit, leaning back as she ignored thier protests, "but I think it's a safe bet that a couple of grown men aren't just looking to hang out with them. So what's the deal, huh?"
She might have noticed Motou giving her an approving smile if she hadn't been staring between himself and Seiji with that flat look. "Nani?! How old are you, lady?"
The explosion from Jounouchi nearly drowned out Honda's muttering "Oh man." and drawing a hand over his face, although not enough that Shuu missed the kid pulling his chair back a little.
It was just the louder boy was standing with his hands planted on the table, yelling. "What'dya mean, asking a lady how old she is?! And you were criticisn' my manners?! You apologize, right now!"
Shuu. Seiji sent, warningly.
Hey, I'm not doing anything unless he starts it. I know it's a bunch of kids, Seiji. "She started that, pal. And I think the lady told you she can take care of herself, okay?" Shuu looked up at him, making himself make a point of not moving. Even if the kid was getting on his nerves.
He'd only begun responding with "Why I oughta-" when Motou reached out a hand.
"That's enough, Jounouchi." He looked up, probably the first time he'd taken that serious gaze off Seiji, and added "It's all right. I don't think they mean us any harm, or it would have happened by now. But I am curious as to what they do mean."
And the last sentance was as much to him and Seiji as for his friends. Well? Are you going to say anything, or do I have to do all the work here? Shuu glared. And after a moment of returned glare in perfect silence, inside and out, he sighed. Fine, don't answer that. You are so gonna make this up to me, Seiji.
"We have a friend who's missing something, something that might be dangerous in the wrong hands." He shrugged, trying to make it seem at least a little casual. It was a disc, after all, not the Sacred Jewel or something. "We just think a friend of yours might have something to do with it, and were wondering if you'd seen him lately, or anything odd?"
He thought he'd made it sound casual, he really did. He had no idea why every one of them was suddenly talking, if not yelling.
"Bakura! I told you! I so told you we needed to go after him!"
"Wait, Bakura's been acting funny again?! Why didn't anyone tell me!"
"Uhh, guys? What's this about Bakura?"
"Jounouchi!"
"Mai! Don't you remember him being psycho-like on the blimp?!"
"We did tell you, blockhead, you were too busy thinking about Mai!"
"Yeah, but didn't you say he was possessed?"
"Anzu! Shuttup!"
Motou had been trying to speak, if a bit quietly, but now he stood up and yelled, the volume emphazing the strange depth of his voice : "That's enough!"
The girl looked down at him, frowning just a little. "Yugi..."
Jounouchi looked down at him. "Yugi, man, sorry." He looked around at the others, as they all sat back down a little sheepishly, except for Mai. He spoke to her next. "See, Mai, you weren't here when we first met Bakura... an' I don't think we've ever sat down and exchanged our whole life stories or nothin', so ya wouldn't know."
Honda interrupted, "That that Ring of his is this psycho-boomarang that keeps coming back."
And that was the expression of a long-suffering individual if Shuu'd ever seen one. "And I'm taking it this guy is a thief, too?"
"Not Bakura!" Anzu objected, looking at him earnestly and glaring at Seiji for his skeptical noise. "Not our Bakura, but the spirit or whatever inside the Ring. It just comes out and takes over..." She trailed off with a sad expression.
But he is not the only spirit they know. Motou is not what he seems. Seiji glanced at Shuu before speaking, as if in warning. "And your friend cannot prevent being taken over?"
As if he weren't already watching. Well duh, Seiji. I kinda noticed the kid isn't normal first.
"No. He cannot." Motou, or whoever he was, was back to looking at Seiji like he might bite. But he wasn't moving at all, only watching Seiji watch him. "The spirit of the Millenium Ring is a parasite who only brings harm to his host. We have never seen any sign that he cares for Bakura Ryou beyound keeping him alive."
"And you're different, pal?"
Motou ignored his friends' yelling as he responded. "Perhaps you would be more reassured if my other self explained the situation?" And for the first time, the boy smiled at him - in a manner that was not at all reassuring. More like he was gloating a bit. "He's only been asking to speak with you since you mentioned Bakura."
Wait a minute... Seiji? Is that the right name?
Seiji nodded, but spoke to - the spirit pretending to be Motou Yugi? "We did not. But I would prefer to speak to - " He stopped as that glow happened again, and now that the boy wasn't standing behind someone Shuu saw where it was coming from.
At which point he had to ask himself how it was that he had not noticed a big gold triangle hanging from a chain around the kid's neck. "Okay, what is that thing!" ...except there were other things to think about. And that hair.
The voice that answered was so much softer it was hard to believe they'd both come from the same throat. "Hello. Okay, where do I start." He looked down at his chest and held up the pendant. "This is the Millenium Puzzle. I solved it, and that released the spirit inside." He frowned slightly, as if choosing his words. "It's like... the Puzzle's 'spirit' is like another me. A stronger, older me. Only..." He frowned at them, and for some reason the girl put her hand on his shoulder. He smiled up at her sadly before looking back at them. "Ryou isn't that lucky. His Ring's spirit doesn't care about him at all."
Seiji did not look like he was buying this. "And how do we know your spirt does care about you?"
He looked at them as if he didn't understand the question. "Because... we're the same!" He shook his head... frustrated? Or could he talk to it while it wasn't there? "I don't know how to explain it, really. We're just... alike somehow." He was frowning at them warily, and Shuu had the feeling he was going to let the other guy back out if he felt like they weren't listening.

And after this, the plan is shifting to Yugi's pov. When my brain recovers? Something? I don't knooow! XD
