and a mood swing for the Ringmuse:

hates elf lady, we does )

and going to sleep last night, vauge musing that maybe after failing with Aragorn and Legolas, it would try to freak Frodo out by getting Sam to kiss him:

blink/poof effect, Frodo appears.

Frodo: "Why wouldn't Sam kiss me? He's been my boyfriend since we were little kids."

holds up chibi-bunny about all four hobbits meeting up when they were kids. something there about Sam asking Merry and Pip 'how do you know', and them saying how boyfriends hold hands and things, and Sam thinking about him and Frodo helping each climb over stuff.

gah! chibis! and cluelesslysweet!Sam! and Frodo then grabbing the ringmuse and threatening to lower it slowly into the fires by a rope if it doesn't knock it off!

i love fuzzy-falling-asleep thoughts.

especially when i manage to remember the good parts when i wake back up.

bouncing around lj again, and was seized by the compulsion to make a book rec, so:

the Coldfire trilogy, by C.S. Friedman.

i remember picking up the first one because the cover of the 3rd was really pretty and i wanted to know who that guy was, and the lady in the background (already finished by the time i saw it, lucky me!:) ) and i have to read things in the right order. i know people who have mentioned that thye can read things out of order and not be bothered by it. these people (co-workers at old jobs, mostly) are insane. stark raving, i'm sure of it.

anyway, back to the subject at hand: the story really revolves around the 2 main characters and the - really warped realtionship that develops between them. because honestly, i think they're both variations on the alpha male, and they can't both be in charge of the quest they draw into to, and naturally, neither of them will give up control, so:

hurrah for tug-of-war!

about everything, but especially about theology issues, because they belong(Damien, priest) and belonged to(Gerald, supernatural evil sorceror type) the same religion.

and it's really interesting, seeing how everything changes Damien.

oh, and something that i didn't really notice until the second time through; strong female support charcters.

Ciani, Damien's love interest in the first book and Hesseth, a member of an alien species that really hates humans and- crap- trying not to make spoilerish comments - can't describe how cool she is without doing so!

same thing for Jenseny in the second book and Narilka in the third! auggh!

oh fudge and darn. want to gush ridicuosly; have been accused by family members of spoiling things. and i know they're right.

but it's still a really cool trilogy!

ooh boy

i thought, when i started this thing, that it was going to end after Boromir's death. sort of a walking into the sunset take on Frodo leaving the Fellowship, with the Ring plotting how to use Sam against Frodo.

the Ringmuse is having none of it, in that is wants to keep talking until the very end; i have a vague notion of it thinking as it falls, that it shouldn't have insulted Gollum.

Frodo-muse is having none of it, in the same 'not /my/ boyfriend, you're not!' vien that he started on when he showed up.

interestingly, the Ring's Gollum-speech increased as soon as Frodo showed up.

shrug. at least it's almost done. (keep the chibi bunny away from me, Frodo.)

on the river )

and again:

way more fun for the Hobbits, than the Ring )

and again

still more fun for the Hobbits )

hee! i am going to finish this! too, too cool.

oh, and in other news: according to Nathaniel, my older nephew (almost 4) the color brown is not called brown. it's the color 'chocolate'.

i think maybe we have too much chocolate in this house.
