Nov. 4th, 2005 08:17 amGot myself lost trying to find the Barnes and Noble, following the map's directions. At least the first bit. Then I remembered the way Dad used to head, since I picked the one I thought I'd been to with him? Start heading in that direction, and -
Ta-da.
Totally opposite of the directions I'd gotten from online for the first part, but once I found the exit to Union St., well. It only took from 7 to 11 all total to find the place. Which of course closed at 11. &%$#
Still. I found it! And I recognized many many places and street names along the way, and was generally less lost. And I refuse to get depressed about that, because there was improvement darnit! I knew where I was! ...I just didn't know how to get where I wanted to be. :p
Also of note - somehow, I ended up at the Five Points. I wish I knew how to get back there, since I remember there being someplace with really yummy Italian food there. >.> Except it's Five Points, and I'm hesitant to explore down there. Not a good neighborhood, and cramped tiny streets where I could've almost hit someone a couple of times if I hadn't been crawling along at like 5 mph. x.x; Seriously? There are almost no parking spaces, therefor cars line up along the streets, therefore the street's width is reduced to the size of your car. (you hope - SUV's are screwed in that place, ha! >:P )
...I actually really wanna go back. But maybe in daylight? ^^; *is a chicken*
Also got to listen to a really interesting interview on NPR - Henry Winkler. I never knew he was involved in producing MacGuyver. :o The interviewer asks him what was his favorite thing, and Winkler says (something along the lines, can't remember exact words) "He's driving down this highway, trying to get away, and the bad guys shoot his radiator full of holes. So he drops some eggs in there, and the eggs hard-boil and plug up the holes, and he's able to get away."
Interviewer: ...what was he doing with eggs?
Winkler: (in this lovely amused/you got me! tone) "I don't know."
I died. XD
Aside from the amusement? Henry Winkler rocks. I was not aware of this, but he does. Sufficently so that I have hunted up the link thereto. Listen to the cool that is Henry Winkler!
So when I finally got home (an extra hour figuring that out) I am drained and yet energetic (yay. I've got to be sick with something, waaay too sleepy/sneezy/head keeps wanting to weigh as much as the rest of me without medicene) and ended up doing nothing for a bit. Then I recuperated enough to mop - yay mopping! Ooooh, look, I have shiny clean floors. ^_^
Five minutes later? Eh. So the floor is clean, sowhat. *insert muse-fits here*
Although it's kind of amusing to watch the Bakurae's reaction to this. Apparently cleaning/choresy things are beneath him, and somehow by extension, me. XD Ryou then glares and lectures and may end up trying to brain him with a mop or something. >.> Various taking sides, too.
And I did end up getting the story back where I lost it. It's just not as good as it was. Which, considering the sickies, is not surprising. x.x
