Well, my vacation is almost over. It has had ups and downs, mostly due to the wonderful timing of my period.

Yeah.

But, I am trying not to collapse into a puddle of woe, despite several crying jags and meh. In the interest of said pursuit, have a list of cool things lately! Some of these happened before vacation, but whatever.

While having to move my car, because they were painting the parking lot, I saw a luna moth. One of those lovely huge green ones that I've only seen in pictures. I didn't know we even had them here!

A few days after that, coming out of my house, I saw a huge black swallowtail butterfly.

I found out what bird it was in my dream - a nuthatch, small local bird. For some reason I was convinced they were migratory, and they're not, but that's dream logic for you. ;p

And on vacation! I have been playing Zelda: Twilight Princess more and may actually finish it some time this year. >.< Also FFIV, and I've been a lot more drawn into the story than the last time I picked it up, which I will take as a good sign because the ability to enjoy things has to be, right?

Also I have been rather thoroughly addicted to the Professor Layton series - currently working on Diabolical Box. This series is so freaking adorable, I don't even know. It probably deserves more entries of its own. I just really adore the Professor for being such a Gentleman and yet it's becoming more obvious in this game that he is not without his flaws and he plays his cards close.

Lesse.. oh! I have been driving, and managed to find at least one state park - Little Talbot Island. Will be going back with sunscreen (yes I got myself sunburned again x.x ) and insect repellent some time, it is gorgeous there. Lovely white sand beaches and not crowded at all, how does that happen? <3

Also made a failed attempt to go to a downtown art museum, but I know where it is now and I can try again. I was pleased at finding it, I am suck at navigating downtown. But it's right there at the library. Like right there, I can go through the library from the parking garage, come out and turn right. Tada!

Also right there are some restaurants and the downtown branch of the used bookstore I like, and a tiny park with fountain. Definitely worth going back to.

Also made my trip to the zoo, which was nice. A few new arrivals to me - baby warthogs, a baby leopard and a snapping turtle. Freaking huge snapping turtle! The baby leopard was most adorable though, it was so tiny. Comparatively, it's already a good 3 or 4 times the size of my Dusky.

And today I went to the Mosh downtown, and quite enjoyed that. Didn't make it in time for any Planetarium stuff, but I did see a really beautiful shell exhibit, snail and seashells. Its last day is tomorrow, too, so I'm glad I made it. I have one of those little velvet bags of pretty rocks for a souvenir. ..what, I am a sucker for pretty rocks. And they made me want to write!

Also, coming out of the museum, I found the fountain I saw back on the 4th of July. I'd been meaning to search for it, but it was just there! Friendship Fountain and Park, which according to my dad has been there since he was a kid, but had fallen into disrepair and has only recently been fixed. It is gorgeous, people, I have seen swimming pools smaller than this thing, and the taller sprays are the height of small trees. It was beautifully windy and overcast out, and when I walked by down wind, it might as well have been raining. <3

And lastly I was given a prompt and this is the result:
