Rotten, rotten week. Two customer complaints about me, (one made by a lady whose first words to me were 'Is there something wrong with you?') and my sister is moving to Atlanta.
Probably post more about that later.
But right now, the squee, as I went to a midnight showing of Pirates of the Carribean: Dead Men's Chest. I am thrilled. I am going to see this again next weekend, I am I am. :D
And yet I find myself at a loss for what to say, since mostly my brain consists of names with squee attached. Like so: Jack!!Squeee!
Will!Squee!
omg,Elizabeth!Squee!!
And so on and so forth. Although ex-Commodore Norrington needs his heart cut out with a rusty spoon, the little creep. Even there, I was vaugely pleased. Not sure why, except he was so starched-collar repressed that it seemed inevitable he was going to do something asinine. I'd have been disappointed somehow, if he hadn't? I just didn't expect him to do something so underhandedly clever.
Will and Elizabeth's almost-wedding in ruins in the rain. So sad, and yet such a perfect opening with the East India Company. Now there's some villains for you. It seems very... incroachment of the evils of the 'civilized' world, there. And what the heck does that arrogant little Lord (no, I can't remember his name. Nor do I care. ;p) ...what's he want with the Heart of Davy Jones?! I mean, it's not like it does anything? I think. For all I know, it controls the oceans.
Heck, for all I know Lord Villiany is looking for the Northwest Passage. :P
Will is such a freaking Gryffindor. And yet he has learned his lessons from the last movie, and become a rather savvy Gryffindor - very willing to get his hands dirty and use Jack's methods if needs be.
But I don't think he has a clue what Elizabeth did. I think he's mourning Jack's untimely turn to the heroic side, and doesn't suspect Elizabeth of anything but cheating on him.
Oh dear lord Jack. *wibbles* ;_; He, he - and then in the midst of that giddy happiness in the novelty of doing selfless good, and hey hot kiss ;p
She turned on him. I don't believe she did that. I should've seen it coming, I really really should. But I didn't. I kinda thought Will would break it up. I - she - O.O *blindsided* ETA 7:23 And it only just occured to me - Elizabeth saw him leaving the ship. She saw that the Kraken was attacking the ship anyway. ....did she just condemn Jack to death so she wouldn't have to deal with the emotional turmoil of her attraction to him?! WTH, Elizabeth!! Just. What The Hell.
They'd make such an interesting threesome, yes? XD
Ooooh, and then there's Davy Jones. Really pleased with the creepiness of him and his crew. And the Kraken! Oh, wow. It's a bad sign I want one of those, yes? And also that I liked Davy Jones. What can I say, I'm a sucker for tragedy, and tragic-type romances, and there he is. Cutting out his own heart rather than deal with the pain. Ouch.
I'm just ignoring the little rude voice that also mocks him for this, along the lines of 'you big wuss'! Great. Big. Wuss.
But wuss with a wickedly cool ship and frighteningly bizzare crewmen and his own Kraken! >:D
Now I wish I remembered exactly what it was he said when they first summoned it. It sounded almost like poetry? 'Let no joyful voice be heard...' ETA It's a mis-quoting of the Bible, Job 3: 7 & 8
Only, in other spots (other translations, I assume) it uses Leviathan instead of mourning. And Davy Jones's was (paraphrasing, can't remember exactly) 'Let no joyful voice be heard, let no head be raised, let them curse ??? we who raise - the Kraken!
And then there was much cool destruction. ;p
Also. Little mini hearts for the return of the Very Gay Pirates, and their very amusing arguments about religion. XD
All through the movie, one thing kept bothering me, and it wasn't until the very end that I realized what it was. The pacing. It's half of one huge movie and how long do we have to wait for the next one?! :O
Though it was good to see that Tia Dalma put that undead monkey to good use. Geeez. XD
And as with the first movie? Stay to credit's end.
Probably post more about that later.

3:7 Lo, let that night be solitary, let no joyful voice come therein.
3:8 Let them curse it that curse the day, who are ready to raise up their mourning.
