yay! per the advice of shusu, went and dug up my Tenchi Muyo in Love tape (with very old commercials on it- yes, Milky Way bars are evil)
and was very inspired watching it.

although i am afraid this is a little too close to Tenchi Muyo; like some alternate universe thereof:

generation ships; they've been out in space so long living on a planet is a myth. oh, people would be taught about it in school, but who would really believe such a silly thing?

the upper class. nobility, the technocrats and merchants who came into power when the nobility declined, and the engineers. they'd have to.

the idea is that these ships had some kind of energy attached to them; maybe a person who sacrificed themself to become part of the ship?

one by one, the ships get damaged so that, even though the people can go on living there, it has to altered from the original design in such a way that the energy flees; ending up all conglomerated in an entity that is the Emperor's ship. and the dominant personality is Tsunami.

i have an idea that this is why i was seeing Sasami as Tuptim; she's in one of the royal families, who orginally all had some connection to the spirit of their ships, and she's been having dreams about Tsunami since she was little.

the Emperors past would have been reluctant to use that power, and that would have contributed to the decline in their prestige.

but, the best ship in the world in going to have a finite lifespan, like anything else, and they've been in space too long. they need to find a planet to live on, soon. and about the time that Tenchi's dad passes on, the nobles who still have some connection to the ships(and any telepaths or like talents) would have started having strange dreams. it's Tsunami, having found a barren world that she/they/it can adapt, trying to affect a course change.

Tenchi's trying to cope with his sudden responsibilities, comfort his mom, and deal with the Council; meanwhile, Sasami's completely freaking out, whichever ship she's on. Washu is her elder cousin, and they've been very close since they meet; it's just Washu isn't as sensitive to the ships. what talent she's inhereted has more to do with feeling the shape of things, and wiith mining, which the ships do as they come across the occasional comet or dead planet. i have this image of Washu routinely comforting freaking out!Sasami, that at first she doean't think this is anything more significant than an acute fit, because she's in the habit of locking annoying relatives out and doesn't learn about the rest until later.

Ayeka's having strange dreams, but nothing like the strength of other peoples'. i'm thinking maybe more of an wanna-be technocrat/council member, dissasitfied with the state of the nobility and her position in life in general. gets suspicious as to what's going on, starts scheming... i'm thinking she might be a latent healer, but it would take something drastic to cause her to realize it.

Ryoko: the daughter of a technocrat and an engineer. and a full blown telekinetic freak, with a very bad reputation of throwing things when pissed (things= furniture, plants, the occasional person who tried to coo at her as a baby) (note the immortal chibi bunny is now setting up camp) really more interested in the way the ships function, but the dad was the technocrat, who 'rescued' her mother from having to work like that, and doesn't want his daughter going back down the social ladder. she's supposed to be studying porgramming and the like, if she must do such, instead of, oh, social arts and things that will get her a good marriage. (which idea Ryoko flips off)

Kiyone and Mihoshi. eek. the chibi bunny says they grew up together. little Kiyone playing at something that's all nice and neat and ordered and then Mihoshi comes stumbling through and ruins it all. Kiyone yells; Mihoshi flops down and cries; Kiyone calms her down. Mihoshi attempts to adopt her for her new bestest friend, telling her all about the interesting things she sees; Kiyone gets rid of the fruitcake by walking her home.

only to find out she really does see things. i'm not sure what she is, but she sees -things- of unknown nature. and Kiyone, being all responsible and serious, asks what sort of training she's getting (gah! you have your college picked out?! you're like - like, ten or something. no-one has their college picked out then! go away!)

and the parents look at her in much the same blank but happy way that Mihoshi has. and she's aghast and worried and ends up talking her self into pseudo-adopting her, making sure she learns things... i think some sort of divination/looking into the future thing. also, being able to sense motivations somewhat; i can see her glaring at a passing council member, walking through a hall.

ends up being this sort of minor phrophet to the people on the ships; and Kiyone's a doctor/herobolgist thing.

the wierdest thing happened last night; apparently while i was watching the movie, Kiyone went to talk to Snape.(and how did she get in his office? it's in the Fog! no-one gets in Snape's office!) but she must have, because the oc has adopted Snape-like traits. she's way more possesive than Kiyone really is, and doesn't like Tenchi when it comes to their turn. as in 'no! he can't have her, she's my childhood playmate/girlfriend! mine mine mine!' and the doctor thing is really Potions. Potions and Herbology, because they're related.

yikes. i am sorry (hangs head) i said outline and then got completely sidetracked...

so, everyone starts getting drawn together really fast at first; then things slow down. i'm not sure whether the marriages are Tenchi's idea or Achika's. but it really would take awhile for all of that to happen, and i'm thinking it would happen in stages, so by the time they reach the planet, the first wife would have at least one kid; someone wondering what was going on, why are all the adults so concerned and serious; and what do you mean leave the Ship, mommy, i like the Ship! (gah! it's another chibi! they're multiplying!)

just.. room along the way for the power struggle with the Council, and people to get to know each other; for Ayeka and Ryoko to grow up, and Kiyone to get that stick out of her ass...

and some idea that something tragic yet necessary will happen with Sasami and Tsunami, probably just because it is those two, and Sasami being Tuptim...

whee! yeah, this is fun. the Mars poems are still bothering me, though.

i stopped trying to write a long time ago. i think one of those stupid teenage decisions, but i'm bad at remembering dates, so it could have happened earlier.

i think i just need to kick myself in gear again, but still... finding my style/getting my feet under me, writing-wise, and without abandoning the poetry (who am i kidding? i could no more stop that than stop breathing; i've already got a children's rhyme for the Story. bloody chibis)

i think i can finish the Mars poems, though, if i just drop everything else for a day and focus there. maybe i'll go to the zoo, soon. take those poems with me and just wander around the zoo... yeah. that would be fun. and i wouldn't end up on the computer.
