So, I'm getting ready for work. No, really! Typing is not at all distracting.
But tonight? 358/2 Days comes out. That is distracting. :D
Thinking about it yesterday, though, I suddenly realized why I have so much trouble writing the basement gang from Chain of Memories.
It's freaking Zexion. Or rather, Manipulative Genius!Zexion. I don't believe he exists. XD Seriously, fandom which does not portray him as the emo kid (and being younger than the others doesn't make him a child, dammit - he looks like an adult to me) tends to write this version of him that is incredibly good at psychological manipulation, and I just... don't buy it.
Has anyone paid attention to what he actually did in Reverse/Rebirth? He screwed up, is what he did. He overestimated Vexen almost as much as Vexen overestimated himself - like he believes Vexen's bluster. It's either that or he was underestimating Marluxia, possibly because he also was miffed at a newbie being in charge, and either way? For all his "I R logical" front? Those are very emotional mistakes to be making.
And might I add he looked gleeful when he told Lexaeus that it was better that Vexen deal with the mess. Which I find absolutely adorable, but. Not so smart. Not nearly so smart as fandom would like him to be.
And then there's Riku. Which, depending on the version you like (thank you, crack!manga and your pickles :P ) I just... was he not supposed to be trying to turn Riku? And the creepy thing is, he blows it by much the same heavy-handedness that led him to sic Vexen on Marluxia. I mean. Dude, way to fail.
And Axel. It... just, how could he even think he could so much as metaphorically turn his back on that one?
The more I think about this, the more it seems to me that Zexion is more over-confident and less honest about himself and his failings than Vexen could ever be. And I'm not even going to get into my opinions about Vexen, fanon and otherwise, because I? Really need to get back to getting ready for work now. XD
eeeee, come lunchtime I will be playing 358/2 Days! :D :D :D

Date: 2009-09-29 01:05 pm (UTC)He was Sora's friend at the end of the first game, and when we drop in to check up on him in the second? He tries to maul Sora & co. to death because Xaldin says Belle is out to get him and they're her accomplices and just. omg, wtf?!
It is awesome. >:D
..omg. I got distracted looking for pictures for you, and found out the same guy that voices Xaldin has played a character on NCIS. That is some kind of crack waiting to happen, there. >.>
Much later again, though that doesn't show in comments : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AjyNAtD0dmE
English cutscenes! That's my basement gang, yup. <3 ...don't turn your back on Vexen, he will use for a lab rat or heartless food. o.o

Date: 2009-10-02 12:42 am (UTC)...poor double of Riku never even got his own name! Fandom usually just calls him Repliku. XD
Yeah, Axel is all kinds of sneaky trouble.
