So, I have been consumed with work and worry and exhaustion. Having a nice weekend so far, though, and maybe I'll get caught up with reading and more importantly, writing! And artsy stuff. Because it might as well be the New Year - which I'll be at work for - and I want this to be a more productive year as far as that goes. But I don't want to jinx it by calling it a resolution.
A little bit of catch-up, then. Yuletide
I have gifts! Lots of them because I was on the pinch hit list. o.o
Lost Boys:
The Infatuation of Freedom David, and Michael, and squeeee.
I Love You, But I've Chosen Darkness A different look at how it could have gone.
Hypnopompic And a very lyrical look at how it could've gone horribly wrong. XD
Parasite Eve:
Starting Out On A Journey Aya and little Eve and a look at the future.
Vengeance of a Kind Eve.
And last but not least, a creepy little Babylon 5 piece! In the Midnight Dreams of the Emperor
I saw Sherlock Holmes tonight, and it was wonderful. I love Watson, I don't know if I've mentioned this before, but I really do, and Jude Laws' portrayal was gorgeous. Oh Watson, you dashing loyal gentleman you. With his military neatness and his cane and his reluctant fondness even though Holmes is determined to be a jackass at the moment. You are so totally the adult in that relationship, Watson. Hang in there! ♥
And Sherlock! I was a little worried that it being Robert Downey Jr. would throw me off, especially since one of the previews was for the next Iron Man, but he was totally believable and a lot more like I picture him from the books. Could've been a bit taller and thinner looking, but hey - can't have everything. I will take ass-kicking Holmes who bickers with Watson and experiments on the dog (they had a dog, ahahaha the squee) over Mr. Extra Studious and Immobile any day. And he was a slob! I broke out in such a grin when I saw his rooms, oh good lord the mess. That's my Holmes's room. Sadly. XD
Yet another reason that if I were given a choice between Watson and Holmes, I would take Watson every time. ;)
I mean, idk, I know they read the canon and tried to work from that instead of from previous films, and seeing the bulldog really gave me the feeling of those discussions going on the background. "Did he have a dog or didn't he?" "Oh who cares! Watson would totally have a dog, and it will look nice and hey! We can use it to illustrate something later on, see..."
eeee, and the subtle prescence of Moriarty. Lurking in the background, oh yes, and he would have nothing to do with the flashy Blackwood. Far too obvious for Moriarty's tastes, but useful anyway. Mwahaha. >:D
I do like what they did with Irene, too - that she is a career adventuress still, and just. Really kind of awesome. She's managed to outwit him twice! Wait, I believe the movie brings her count up to three. I hope they make another, and I hope Irene's in that too. ♥
I kind of ignored Holmes not knowing Mary Morstan, as if the Sign of the Four never happened - it is a relatively minor quibble for me, as I never expected them to get everything right in the first place and it makes sense in terms of the rest of the film.
And, just, I have to stop. Because there are so many little details that I will never get any sleep if I don't. I'm tempted to go see it again tonight. ♥
Mrrr. Really getting sleepy now. Goals for tonight: Get the laundry done, and hopefully get something started for KH. Because I've got this scene for something lurking in my head, and it is going to be a tangle of angst, and I'm really wanting to get it out.
