Alright, chores and necessities covered for now! Although I need to make a library run later.
Not surprisingly, I had some interesting dreams last night. I think there were more, but all I really remember was this ruined old house. Beautiful place, and I was trying to rebuild it, only the construction crew? Was for some reason also a rock band. Kept going on tour, which slowed down my house! I think there were some awesome parties, though. Also there was a talking bird, which kept following me around being kind of obnoxious. Kind of a smallish, very colorful ostrich-thing. At one point I lost my temper and started chasing it around the garden, but that didn't do much good. Stupid bird was faster than me.
Yay fever-dreams! :D
So it turns out that this game auto-saves. Pretty constantly. Which is awesome and sneaky because it prevents you from manipulating the course of action by reverting to your last save. In a game with mulitple endings? Darn you, Epic Mickey creators! Darn you to heck. :P
I am trying for the good ending first, on the basis that Paint = Healing and using lots of Paint while going easy on the Thinner should help. Also, helping people! Which mostly amounts to Gremlins so far.
...in most other canons, this would be a bad bad thing. XD
Okay, auto-save is pretty great. Just about any time you complete a tiny quest-objective, it saves. <3
Also, found out why I was having so much trouble with my aiming at certain things - I did not realize you can fire paint in a stream. Which is about the only way to hit certain things above Mickey's short little head. :D?
Oh well. XD
Meanwhile, Oswald is siccing enemies on me. Dammit Oswald! Does Mickey not have enough to deal with!
Man this is awesome. I mean. And I hate jumping, I really do. But but. AWESOME. I am getting better at the aiming.
Except, you know, when I accidently Thinner the ground out from under my own feet and fall into thelava pits Thinner pools below. D:
Note to self: Stop thinking that theme park world is Traverse Town, dammit. Leon & company are not lurking out of sight, laughing at Mickey. :P
Also also! Little blue Mickey heads are much better than streams of pink hearts for showing affection. Because blue! My favorite color. *adores Paint being blue, also*
Dammit, Oswald, stop screwing with Mickey! He has villains to face, you are slowing down the rescuing here! How am I supposed to ever defeat the Phantom Blot if you're always in the way. >:P
And I had to stop there, because I needed to run to the library and pick up my holds. Fullmetal Alchemist manga! <3 I'm up to 13 and things are getting crazy awesome. I don't know about Brotherhood, the new one? But the old anime was a pale shadow of the awesome that is this insanity.
Also I am reading Tad Williams's Memory, Sorrow and Thorn books. I'm on Stone of Farewell now and very pleased so far.
Though my favorite moment of reading was in Dragonbone Chair, when I do not remember who was reading to Simon? But
So it's a longish passage, which I do not have to hand and wouldn't be insane enough to type anyway. The gist of it is that Doctor Morgenes had done a life's history of his friend King Prestor John because he felt that the traditional storytelling and hero worship was taking away from the true greatness of the man, and I'm inclined to agree. Shortened:
"And so they fought for a damned impressive amount of time, though the idea that it was all night and day is ridiculous. Then there was an accident that gave Prestor the advantage, but he was moved by the skill and determination of Camarais, and helped him get back on his feet so they could keep fighting! And Camarais was much impressed.
Then Camarais gained the upper hand because Prestor was older than he, and sought to return the earlier favor and helped Prestor up. Whereupon Prestor looked at Camarais, and the men watching, and kicked Camarais in the fork of the legs."
The boy Simon is appalled at this unheroic behaviour, but the reader shushes him and continues.
"Then he said to Camarais, "You are a valiant and worthy foe, and will be a worthy vassal, so I'm letting you live. But remember this: the man who starves with honor does not feed his family, the king who falls on his sword with honor does not serve his people. Do your job first, worry about the niceties of honor second."
And I was just. All with the smiles and thinking, "Now that is a king. I would be glad to serve that man. <3 "
