Dear Yuletide Writer,

Hello! Make yourself comfortable, and know that you are awesome, first of all. For we share at least one of the following tiny fandoms! Have fun writing it, and I will enjoy reading. <3

In case you are an author who doesn’t like too much detail, here is a brief summary -

I like : In-character behavior! Solving mysteries, alternate realities of all shapes and sizes, manipulation and mind-fucking. I like when the good guys, out of the goodness of their hearts, do something genuinely wrong and don’t realize, and seeing what happens when they find out. I like my bad guys cheerful, and I like when they win.

I dislike - Rape, though skirting the line with non-con is okay - see : mind-fucking. I'm a lot more interested in the psychological effects than physical violence, though. Mpreg is really not my thing. Also really explicit sex, vore and anything that belongs in the bathroom - not interested.

Onward to more detailed stuffs!

Samurai Troopers: My forever fandom! Oh how I miss the days of lots of fic.

Though not, actually, most of the fic that I can remember - just the greater odds of finding something that I'd like. I love the boys, and the clashes of their personalities - especially Seiji vs. Xiu, respective heirs to two very different traditions. I love Shin's quiet background noise that is occasionally unexpectedly dissonant ('Can't we go on without him?') and the way that grows over time. I love how for all Seiji talks strategy, Touma actually acts it, keeps his eyes on the end goal and does the unpleasant things that he feels have to be done. He is the only one who will keep arguing with Ryo, and who tries to understand what's actually going on. I love Ryo for being the beating, bleeding heart of the group, so warm and openly emotionally and forgiving that everyone can't help but form up around him, even if he hadn't gotten the 'leader's' armor.

And I love Xiu, to bits and pieces, my favorite of the boys. I love that he seems so laid-back, but as the series progresses it becomes clear that he is deeply emotional, that his comfortable friendliness is akin to the way a big guy will be physically gentle so as not to hurt those smaller than himself. I love that he tends to advocate a brute-force frontal approach not because he's incapable of thinking strategically, but that his strategy tends to taking the simplest approach to get where he's going - why jump through multiple hoops when you can cross the street? Why try to understand what's going on when you can "give Talpa a headache with my fist!" Granted, this is also why they need Touma. ;)

Lastly, anyone not in the characters that you would like to use is welcome - we're missing one of the boys and all of the Warlords and supporting cast! Also I noticed I've begun shipping Xiu/Naaza don't ask me ask my subconscious. What. If Xiu ever went evil they'd hit it off like nobody's business.

Digger:

I love this story - I love the morality of it, and the gender politics, and the fact that Our Heroine is a patient, methodical, serious person who got caught up in this insanity and is going to actually go home and stop adventuring. I really don't think that Digger is going to miss the crazy, though I don't think she'd mind Shadowchild visiting, just so she knows how she's doing? And that is a rare thing.

I'm curious about Sweetgrass Voice, and all the demons - what are their lives like, and their deaths. I also love mythology in general, so if there's anything you like that might work well in Digger's world, say as something for Shadowchild to encounter? Go for it! The only note I have is that I think Shadowchild is gender-neutral, and I'd like hir to stay that way - the absence of assigned gender and any interest in it appeals to me.

Also, on the chance that we've matched on something else and you've never read Digger but are intrigued - http://diggercomic.com/?p=3 Have fun!

Breath of Fire IV:

The art and the music of this game continue to fascinate me, as well as the switched placements of eastern and western values. I love the world the characters live in, that spans such a range of environments. I love the overgrown temples with trees coming through them, and the simple stones for a shrine in the grasslands, and the practically immortal summoners watching over the other peoples. I wonder sometimes how that got started, what was the first dragon summoned and why. I wonder how Yuna got enough information to try summoning his own, nevermind how badly he botched it. I'm curious about the Empire's traditions as well, if any of the common people really expected Fou-lu to wake up, and how they might have reacted if there hadn't been the whole Imperial system in the way.

I'm also very curious about Scias and Ursula, and what their lives were like before everything hit the fan.

Final Fantasy VI

As with my other video game request, I love the art and the music here. This was one of my very first games, and I still remember watching the opening sequence with wide eyes, hanging on every word. And the lightning as the title came up! Everywhere and everything, from the Narshe mines to the grasslands with the lettuce-seated attack rabbits to Zozo, I love it all. Tell me about anything! Tell me how Phoenix ended up where Locke found it, and what it's like to be used to bridge the divide between life and death. Tell me about the old castle where you pick up Odin, or what it's like piloting a castle/sandship - how do they keep the place sealed? ;) Tell me about the characters' lives as they rebuild the world from Ruin, or what their lives were like before. Anything and everything is welcome here!

Last but not least - I love crossovers, fusions and alternate realities. If you'd like to write about the characters of any of these fandoms as teen crime solvers, or working in a cafe, or mystery writers to whom mysteries actually happen! Go for it. What would the story of FF VI been like with the Troopers cast? What if Talpa had been Sweetgrass Voice - wait no, he'd suck at that. ;) Or any fandom you'd like to crossover or transport our mutually-shared fandom into! If you'd like something I might also be familiar with, other fandoms I like include Kingdom Hearts (with a serious preference for the villains), FFs 7, 8, 9, and 12, Yu-Gi-Oh, Yami no Matsuei, Megaman Legends and How To Train Your Dragon (books or movie).

First, last and always - have fun! Spreading joy is what Yuletide is about, and it should start with you enjoying writing. <3
