First of all, you clearly have excellent taste, no matter which of these fandoms we matched on. :) Have fun writing, and remember that optional details are optional - don't let any of my details stop you from having fun and getting the story written! (With the exception of squicks of course. ^^; )
Onward!
The Fairyland Series - Catherynne M. Valente
I feel like I already covered the Marquess fairly well in my request, so about the world - I love the feel of these books, the sense that September is somewhat adrift in a world just as large and in a sense uncaring as our own. There is a trueness in that, that the whole story does not in fact revolve around the existence of one Chosen One, isn't a stage that September has fallen onto. I love the scars in the world, the way that even people who have a problem with how the Marquess is running things still Do Not Talk About The Fairies, and the fact that they are very much the worst of the Fair Folk of old earth legend : incredibly powerful and casually cruel, almost childishly so as opposed to the structured and reasoned cruelty of the Marquess.
I love September reflecting on the fact that even the 'good' fairies she has met are kind of jerks.
I love that the book makes it very clear that September is a Taurus, with all of the sometimes disastrous stubbornness innate to that sign, without writing her off as stupid which happens sometimes. I feel, (and full disclosure that this is my sign) though I wish it had been just as explicit, that the Marquess/Mallow is a Scorpio. I love that the story shows the extremes of nature that come with that, and yet the underlying stability that is so similar to and yet different from Taurus, and I love beyond my ability to properly describe the fact that she went down because she underestimated September's intelligence.
But if you have no interest in either of them, find something you would love to write about! I feel like the heart of this series is about not fitting into the roles that a story assigns you, after all - none of the main characters exactly stays put in the role they're introduced in. Write about Gleam on the eel railway, write about Ell or Ell's siblings or some random character we see on one page and the grand story that is their life while all these silly people think they're the most important character. Have fun!
Chrono Cross
Time travel! Travel between dimensions! Forgetting which world you're in and who you can and can't rely on as a result! This game can get delightfully confusing and silly. I requested Norris and Glenn, but if there's another character you'd rather write about, feel free. I love the echoes of Trigger in it, if you play them back to back you can see similarities in the way things were set up that are beautiful. I love the way the two separate worlds can still impact each other, and the implications in things in the Dead Sea/Sea of Eden that these are only two versions of events and multiple realities exist out there.
Where the people in Chronopolis studying the multiple realities? Did they just stumble into it? How might things have played out in another reality?
What is it like to get suddenly summoned into the party via Teleporter?! @.@ There is so much that can be explored in this world.
Child of Light
Poetry! I love the poetry of this game, that it really is like reading through one long bedtime story in rhyme - not that you should feel like you have to! That would be a bit difficult. But I love the rhythmic feel of it, and the painted look of the game, and anything that preserved that storytime feel would be wonderful.
And I'd really like to see something exploring Robert and Margaret's relationship once he realizes how stupid he's been being about it. I just really love that moment when he realizes he could have died and never gotten to know her and really what's more important here self? What are my actual priorities? <3
Yoroiden Samurai Troopers | Ronin Warriors
Really I want there to be all the fic for this series, forever and always. And I'm kind of running out of steam here and might come back to this, although there are other letters of mine that go into some detail for this series. But if we have matched on this, just show me how much you love the series, show me what our guys look like through your eyes. Anything and everything I will absolutely love. <3 <3 <3 <3 <3
Other things - hrrrm. Some years I am more picky but I can't really think of anything I'm not in the mood for this year? I don't mind and might actually enjoy sexual stuff, if you're in the mood to write that - as long as there's nothing that belongs in the toilet. I prefer no incest, though most of these fandoms I don't think it's possible - better to be on the safe side given Chrono Cross though. Nothing too wildly ooc, please, although some leeway has to be given to accommodate any alternate reality stuff. And have fun!:D
