Dear Yuletide Writer
Oct. 10th, 2016 08:58 pmDear Yuletide Writer,
Hello, and thank you for writing for me! Have fun and I'm sure I will too.
This year I am honestly looking for some happy fic. It has been an awful mess both personally and politically, so happy endings and fluff are very much welcome. That said, if you want to write a darker story, I will probably enjoy that too? Just not too heavy on the angst.
Squicks: Gore, vore, incest, watersports, mpreg
Likes: Worldbuilding, aus, crossovers, character developement.
Digger
One of the things I love most about this story is Digger's at first unwitting adoption of a baby demon. I love how seriously Digger takes that responsibility, how careful she is to try and give Shadowchild a solid moral foundation instead of just assuming they must be inherently evil (and I do think of them as being agender or at least genderfluid, though I tend to default to female pronouns). And it does pay off in the end!
idk, I just really like the idea of Shadowchild bringing little proteges to meet Digger, as if to say 'Here, see? Not everyone is a sword-swinging maniac hero that assumes we're here to devour the souls of the innocent. There are people who are perfectly calm and rational about us, and they'll be more if you knock that off.'
Or maybe visiting to get advice from mom, as it were!
9
Noooo why did everyone have to die?! Seriously, was that really necessary? Imagine the entire little world they could have built, if only they'd had more time. There was too much potential in them to end that way. I loved them all, maybe too much.
I'd love to see some time they got to spend together, either before 9 woke up or if things had played out differently. Maybe they could've found their own way to restore life to the world? Even a reincarnation au would be nice. <3
Chrono Trigger
Okay, you do not have to use all the characters, first of all! Time travel shenanigans being what they are, you might want to write a story where some of our characters have not met - go for it! That said, I love the dynamics between Frog and Magus, how utterly he dismisses Glenn and the way he seems to bring out a cruel streak in Magus that I'm not sure was there to such a degree in the rest of his campaign to destroy everything.
I have this sneaking suspicion that Glenn reminded Magus of himself as a kid - even the framing of those two scenes is disturbingly similar, with Magus standing before Glenn as Lavos stood before little Janus. And then he lashes out with a magic that completely changes Glenn, not unlike Lavos did to him? Issues, my friend. You have 'em.
Not that we weren't all aware of that long ago, but.
I love Lucca's determination to understand, and fix, everything. Like there is nothing she can't solve if you point her at it. What if she'd had the time and equipment to really hunt for Schala, instead of having alternate dimension baby clone dropped in her lap? (I know there's supposed to be some encounter with her in the DS remake, but I haven't found it yet.)
And I love Janus and Schala's relationship, what little of it we get to see. They are so utterly devoted to each other, even though Janus doesn't understand or agree with everything his sister is doing. There is nothing they wouldn't do for each other, and it would have been nice to see a proper happy ending there. Or to have had Schala end up on the team!
