Prisnor of Azkaban
Jun. 10th, 2004 01:20 amTake Two.
And not-so-randomly, the first thing when I get to the mall is a spider crawling along the lovely white car next to me. Chasing the requisite innocent bug. o.o
The bug could fly, though. ^^
Are evil, evil things!
I was lulled by the first few nice-tasting ones - being made my favorites, Jelly Belly anyway, so I recognized the flavors and everything.
Was laughing at Aunt Marge - I like noticing that Petunia is, both here and in the books... I don't know, I think the term is passive-aggressive? She's cruel but it's offhand, and she doesn't start things. She just gloats in the background, while Vernon or Dudley or Marge does something awful.
I suspect it's how she felt about their parents, her and Lily. Lily in the foreground with Mummy and Daddy coo-ing, while poor Petunia is all ignored. :(
Except, being the ignored sister to my own sister's 'Lily'? You do not have to be a bitch about it. Resentful, hell yes, but sometimes this woman scares me.
Did like the Order of the Phoenix scene, though. "The boy will just have to stay."
Where was I? Oh yeah, the Beans. The evil!Beans. Just at the end of the Knight Bus, and talking to Fudge? Dirt. And you know, I'm not sure what dirt tastes like, but this is certainly what it smells like.
On the train to Hogwarts? First pepper, then some awful taste I couldn't identify.
When it reached Trelawney's, I discovered they do in fact make vomit-flavored Every Flavors. *shudders* I wasn't sure if I was gagging because of Trelawney or the taste, but this is the point I gave up eating them.
At least randomly in the dark. In a minute I will use the color-guide and sort out the decent ones. ^^;; Yes, I am a flavour-wuss, who cares?!
Why am I spelling it British flavour instead of American flavor, anyway? <<; And when did I pick up this habit of inserting extra u's into my words? I didn't even know I was doing it until I started using a spell-check! (Ye Olde Computer had Ye Olde Word.doc without the spell-check capacity. It was driving me insane.)
I am very easily distracted right now, I think. But, onward!
I noticed, this time, that they got the carriages right - will be interesting to see the horses when that movie comes around. And there was a signpost! Hogwarts <--- ---> Hogsmeade
For some reason I didn't quite notice the ceiling the first time. I mean, I saw it, but - ^^ Sleeping bags! Properly purple sleeping bags! ^^
Also noticed Perce going on about his Head-Boy-ness. *rolls eyes* And the utter lack of caring from everyone else, which was good! >:p Nobody cares you are Head Boy, Percival Ignatius Weasley! Except of course your own fans, (should they exist) and you would not have to yell "I'm Head Boy!" in that "Listen to me! tone, were they present, and - hhmmm. I appear to have been sidetracked yet again.
Ooopsie
(Kind of disturbing that I remember his full name that easily.)
Shusu, you were right about them switching hench- um, can't call them villains they're too young yet.. hench-bullies? Crabbe and Goyle, whom I was watching for and can't really remember which name belongs to whom? ^^;;; But! You were right, the taller one got changed out, who knows why.
Parvati seems so... short. But otherwise, very cool. Loved the huuuge snake, and her having to lean back looking up. ...However, I can't imagine none of the Slytherins having anything to say about it. ...If they did, I hope she hexed them but good!
Even if I don't see why people would be scared of snakes in the first place. ^^;;
I wonder if it's all souls or just Sirius's that look so tiny and feather/snowy. It just seemed so frighteningly tiny and fragile a thing, like... is that all that's left? Shouldn't it be bigger, or at least brighter somehow? o.o
Watching the Time Turner scenes.. I wonder why Harry couldn't go back to save Sirius in Order of the Phoenix. I have this feeling there's something there, you see. Okay, why Harry couldn't go back is pretty obvious - you (of the past) are not supposed to see yourself (of the future) and even in that chaos, very much doubt Harry could pull that one off.
But what about sending someone else in?
For that matter, what about sending someone to save Lily and James?
I think part of it is how much time has passed - the further on you go from events, the more likely both you and the world you live in has been changed by it. The more important an event, the more likely it has serious (no pun intended? ^^;) ramifications - something that might make time resistant to change.
We know time can be altered in this universe, but how much? If you go back too far, I can imagine some pretty ugly things happening. For one, if there is only One Time, so to speak, and you change it... either you as you know yourself might cease existing, absorbed into Time and altered yourself to fit the changes you made.
Or you've diverted Time onto a new path, but the old one is still running as it did - you, having knowledge of the changed Time, are somehow cut off from that Time by it... as far as the people you've left behind are concerned, you vanished. End of story. As far as you're concerned, you're stuck in the new Time, with the consequences of your own actions, good or bad...
Then there's the possibility of it being something to do with the magic - with how much magic is going on at a particular time and place. Hermione could go Time-Turning about to all her classes, yeah - but big deal. She is a third year! They're doing such complicated and dangerous spells in her classes, I'm sure. There's also that no-magic-in-the-halls thing - which I have to wonder if it's just Filch or if they're really not meant to be doing that. Even though I suspect Filch, still - we don't get to see a list of the Rules Hermione Must Follow. (I would kill for a book of the Wizarding World's laws on this subject!)
If there's serious magic going on, might it not screw with the functioning of a Time Turner?
If so, you look at the two 'Why can't we fix it?!'-s, and there's your answer. Voldemort and we don't know what else going on, That Night - Magical, free-for-all firefight going on when Sirius falls.
Nevermind the never-ending subject of the Door.
Nevermind the Laws on Time, I want Rowling to explain that freaking Door! For all we know, that's why there's no rescuing Sirius!
Where does it lead to? Why does it affect Luna and Harry more than Neville and Ginerva (I love her full name, by the way ^^;) and just - doesn't seem to bother Ron and Hermione at all, by comparison?
I refuse to believe that it leads nowhere, because that's just not what doors do - it almost reminds me of a torii out of Japan and China, or something, only not quite the right shape - but what if it's the basic idea? -.-
For the record, I will not be letting go of that Door until it is Explained.
Preferably, by She Who Should Hurry Up With Book Six Already!
...who, what obsessive fangirl? Where?

(no subject)
Date: 2004-06-10 04:55 pm (UTC)Of course you remember his full name. He's watching you.
Okay, that's actually a little creepy. o.o;;
Right. Clearly there are one of 2 ways I may get answers, then. Either I make them up myself, or I steal JKR's license.
So, where does she live?
And I want toooo! I just don't know how I'm gonna! :/
