Mostly wonderings about Avatar: The Last Airbender

Did the warriors on Kyoshi not have any -bending skills or were they not using them? Since 1. they've stayed out of the war 2. the way the Fire Nation seems to be acting, they'd probably have to work for that 'Lookit! We're completely not interested in fighting you! No, really, see the lack of warlike behaviour?' x.x 3. it seems like the War is being fought with -benders, therefore any action by such...

Which came out of the first wondering - how many -benders can there be? It seems like the Fire Nation and Earth Kingdom (s ?) have more? But they have more land, too. The higher population has got to up the odds there...

Fire Nation seems to regard its Benders as warriors, and I'm wondering if they do anything else - I'd think that would be a useful thing for smithing, for instance? And we've seen at least the one city where Earth Benders can make a career out of that. All the Air Benders we've seen have been monks, but it just... doesn't seem likely that all the Air Benders ever born want to be monks, and besides - they were all men. What happens when a girl can Air Bend?

..was Kyoshi an Air Bender?

I give up, I need coffee.

We need a map. And the Air Nomads and Water Tribes seem to have more ... fluid populations. Interestingly enough, there's still trade between Kiyoshi and the Fire Army!

Yes, there is - but that much I thought made sense? It's possible they're still trading with both sides, and just refusing to supply soldiers to either side like the Water Tribe did... and.

Did both Water Tribes help the Earth Kingdom, or was it just the South Pole's? Suppose they get there and they run up against militant neutrality, ie - 'You ruined it, you've got them thinking we're fighting them, die!! 'Cept you Avatar-boy, you we're handing over.' <<

Back to Kiyoshi, further to that making sense - I think I've seen this before? Village/country stays out of a war - by trading with both sides, and insisting they don't bring the fight to the neutral party's lands.

Or they could be geographically remote from the Earth Kingdom, so no direct trade with them, and they just tell the Fire Nation that 'hey, we'll trade with you - but we're not supplying soldiers!'

Or. And something's wrong here... because if there are places like Kiyoshi and the Fire Nation isn't conquering them... >.< It's not world domination if it's not the World! What, is Ozai planning to mop up all the little places once he's gotten Earth Kingdom? Because it's gamble, banking on newly captured resources to quell resistance with, nevermind I kinda doubt that just being conquered is going to stop all resistance in the Earth Kingdom.

XD Bad pun alert! If anyone's talents are suitable for an underground resistance >>

And now I'm wondering exactly what Zuko got exiled for? I mean, did he just shoot off his mouth too much, or did he try to do something, or? Ooooh I'm going to go insane when we find out. So so insane.

This is not the morning of trains-of-thought that go on straight tracks, nopenope. ^^

If the Benders aren't common, and the Fire Nation's leader wants to rule the world, he might consider trying to *breed* his own Avatar if he can't catch the current one--grab the Benders of other nations and press them into 'service', and get rid of the current Avatar in time for a new one to be born under his control.
...er, 'scuse the pessimism/paranoia? *rolls off to bed herself, as there are birds singing behind me, although the wretches DO tend to start at 3am. The little pteradons =p)
