May. 5th, 2005 09:47 pmIt isn't very long. And I don't think it's good enough. But there has been enough kicking myself over this already, and the day is getting late.
And since I am well past the point where I can tell whether something's any good on my own? Any comments or criticisms (that do not consist purely of 'You suck!' ;p ) are welcome. ^^
Happy Birthday.
The night had been cloudless in spite of the hint of rain in the air. Watching the city lights, he had listened to Jun tell him all about the modern world. Admittedly, it was a rather jumbled telling. The boy didn’t seem sure of what he knew or didn’t know, and paused at a few points to explain things he knew perfectly well. Other things he skipped entirely, not seeming to notice that it left Shuten completely mystified.
He had listened in spite of it, content to let the boy ramble. It was calming to have the boy talking to him, so openly and comfortably. He had been content for a moment to let things be, listening to the child and looking at the city lights from the balcony of Nasuti’s home.
Then the light began, catching his attention so that he hardly noticed Jun calling for Nasuti to come and see it. The light, and Arago’s castle showing clearly in its pulsing. The sight of it was not completely unexpected, but the shock of familiarity was. He felt his hand tightening on the shakujo as he stared, uncertain why he felt so disturbed.
Even when she identified it as the light of Rekka’s white armor. He could not say why it was it held his attention so. He could only smile gratefully at Nasuti, when she came and got Jun to go in, because he could not answer the boy’s questions when he did not understand himself.
He stayed outside until the light faded, not yet ready to sleep.
