It had been quiet at school. Especially for their school. No random murderers loose in the area, no gaming craze devouring everyone's life. No bullies or thefts (he found himself reaching into his backpack to be certain the Ring was still there) or mysterious anything demanding Yugi's intervention and thus the Pharoah's appearance
Not even so much as a new teacher whose insanity bordered on evil.
Jounouchi was loudly expressing his opinion that they were all going to die of boredom, and Ryou couldn't help agreeing with him. Not that he was going to say so with the teacher's attention being caught by Jou shooting off his mouth again. Instead he watched the small commotion as Anzu and Honda tried to get Jou to shut up, and shared a smile with Yugi before the other boy joined in.
No sense in getting detention himself...

Kaiba Seto stared down at his younger brother. "Mokuba, I know you mean well but..."
It was vaugely disturbing to notice that Mokuba's glaring had improved. Had to have, if it was getting to him. "I'm serious, Seto! You need to relax! You need to get out of this - office!" Also disturbing that he caught himself thinking it was cute, the way Mokuba glared at the place as if it had done something to him. Except, of course, that he was not even thinking the word 'cute'.
Mokuba seemed to notice that not-thought, however. Or maybe it was that tiny smile he was too tired to stop in time. "And you better hope I don't redecorate the place while you're gone! If you're gonna be living in here, this place needs a fridge and a game system that doesn't have anything to do with Duel Monsters and... hey - we could put a couple folding cots over there..."
'This is the point,' Seto thought to himself, 'where I wake up and realize I've been having some bizzare nightmare. Any minute now.'
"And then the desk can go over there, out of the way, and..." Mokuba's eyes were lighting up as he darted around the office, plotting the rearrangement of his big brother's life.
'He doesn't know what he's doing.' Seto told himself. 'He doesn't know what he's doing, and I'm still standing here listening to him! What is wrong with me?!'
"Mokuba!" He did not flinch, even if he had said that a bt louder than necessary. It was good that he didn't flinch. He didn't dare show weakness while Mokuba was watching him like some tiny horribly cute monster, just waiting for weakness to reveal that it had fangs the size of its own head.
Like Motou. And every freaking monster in his deck.
And he was comparing his little brother to Motou?!
"Seto?" Mokuba. Waving a hand in front of his face. "Hello in there big brother! You okay?"
Seto glared. "Mokuba. Get off my chair and put it back behind the desk." He waited to until Mokuba was wheeling the chair back into place to add, "And cancel the rest of my appointments for today. This place is making me claustrophobic, I'm going out."
He did not look back. Even if that did sound suspiciously like Mokuba stifling a giggle.
