spoke: spider with a pen on a book (and a partridge in a pear tree)
On pg 90 of the 2nd Edition of the Silmarillion, edited by Christopher Tolkien:

Galadriel leaving Valinor )

Otherwise, managed to get about half the cleaning and sorting of stuff I meant to done... I got derailed by a jigsaw puzzle. Puzzle! :D

Why, I wondered, had I not played with this more often? And the answer is - I suck at puzzles. XD I was at that thing literally three hours. If I hadn't been also playing Lunar, I might've gone a little faster.. or I might have gone stark raving mad.

There was cussing.

And blocking the cat out of the room because she insisted on attacking my hand trying to get me to play.

But I'd be damned before I didn't finish that puzzle. RAR!! ...yeah. >.> I really shouldn't touch those things, they have a bad effect on me. XD

Hello! I am shallow and materialist, but I have pretty things so I don't care! ;p

But firstly, this is not a video. It is certainly not a video of me. In fact, this is not even the lj you are looking for. *waves hand*

*gives time for the mind trick to have set in*

In the year 2006 I resolve to:

Become one with my inner sociopath.

Bwahaha! >:D

Hello! I am shallow and materialist, but I have pretty things so I don't care! ;p

Books I have, and also dvds - Project A-ko and finally got all my Yami no Matsuei (whose dubbing I cannot listen to, after hearing the Japanese first) for lo, I got a gift card for Christmas! And that Barnes & Noble gift card I got for my birthday...

...which is a story in itself, because I still have that card. Because I drove out to visit my Dad, better late than never holiday visit. Made it out there just fine, sat and talked for awhile and it was all cool. I got directions from him on how to reach the B&N from their place, and made it there with no problem. The store itself, that was my downfall.

#1: Could not stop looking at the books. Found the Book of Merlyn (remind to rant about/marvel at T.H. White sometime, the man had issues. Makes the Grouch look like a humanist) and a translation and transliteration of the Egyptian Book of the Dead, and The Oxford History of Ancient Egypt by Ian Shaw. I also saw a great many books on the Knights Templar, including two speculations on where all that treasure went - for two different places. >.>

I am curious, but that will have to wait for another time.

So, knowing I was leaving very late in regards to getting to work on time, I headed up to purchase my books, and could not find the gift card. Which I was to discover later, in a fold of my new wallet which I had forgotten existed. :p Perhaps next time, I'll use the thing on one of those Templar books.

Suffice to say I got lost on my way out of there. So utterly lost that I ended up being half an hour late to work. x.x;; This is where being a consistent and reliable employee comes in handy - covering my butt when I do slip up. I mean, I know some of my co-workers who would not be believed if they showed up late like that, and with the story of getting lost on the way back from the bookstore. But they know me and my record, and the fact that I'm always reading didn't hurt either. ^.^

So, back to today - aside from going and using my Suncoast gift card up in one fell swoop! I stopped in the mall bookstore to check for a calendar, since I decided (after some mocking by she knows who she is! ;p ) that I needed a wall calendar this year, instead of my usual desk type. Found a beautiful Japanese woodblocks one - and another book! The Silk Road - Two Thousand Years In The Heart of Asia by Frances Wood. It is shiny-looking, and illustrated, and the author works as Head of the Chinese section in The British Library.

And really, I need to stop buying books like a crazed little chipmunk storing nuts for the winter, and start actually reading them. All of them. XD But they're books and they're sooo shiiiny and I want them! *.*

On the other hand, I tried to organize my bookshelf last night as part of my general cleaning and sorting, and panicked for several minutes as it looked like I was missing parts of a couple of series. >.< Turned out they were tucked away into a corner, but that... was unpleasant. Along with noticing that there is entirely too much Anne Rice and McCaffery on my bookshelf, and I need more books darnit! Good ones!

Thus goals have been born for the new year, of reading every book in my possession (and possibly weeding some out *cough*the later Rice and McCaffery stuff*cough* ) and getting a new bookshelf too! That all my books might be organized and nicely visible, so that I never think I've lost the third book of the Uplift trilogy or my Starbridge novels again. o.o Still recovering from the shock, here!

But for now, I shall make some fresh coffee and take a break from my continuing run of cleaning to finally, finally start reading Mirror Dance, while I work on Lunar some more. ^_^ Nothing like a good book in hand to make level-building seem less tedious and stressful. Although the stress is my fault, for not saving often enough... The Eternal Pattern of my Gaming:

Save before Boss Monster #1.
Beat Boss Monster and gloat! >:D
Level build a bit before heading onward to the next Boss.
Get killed by Boss Monster #2. Cry.
Discover I have not saved since just before Boss Monster #1. Cry and maybe cuss a little. >.<

Thus, dear Alex, Luna and Nash shall have to become accustomed to the sewers of Meribia, because they will go up two levels before I save the game and head out for the trials to enter Vane. Stupid trials.

Stupid Nall for not reviving Alex for me more often.
