7:30 - Arrive home! Run about for a little bit trying to do last-minute thingies like putting stuff away (only not so much) and remembering everything I meant to bring (success! except for the bottled water)
8:30 - Finish stuff/decide hair is dry enough to leave! :D !
9:50 ish - Actually arrive, despite map instructions which informed me this trip should take 50 minutes. >.> I was convinced I had missed my exit, too. Spent the whole 20 or so miles on the interstate arguing with myself about how I could not have missed it, I was going to Georgia for crying outloud, etc.
Yay I found it! ^^ Then there is meeting Lacey and hugs! :D And saying hellogoodbye to the Jay and the nice lady whom I'm assuming is teh inlaw? >.> I was not sure but that was not important.
Onward to the zoo! Ummm. I think I know where I'm going. >.> I blame the would-have-been-asleep-already and the nervous excitement for any incidents en-route. -.-
I don't remember when we actually got there? ^^; But! The rest of the new map sucked? No, really. The little animal pictures and no names of buildings? Not helpful for finding our way around. >:P
Also, a few things were blocked off due to more construction going on. >.> I had thought they were finished! But apparently not. Which meant no walkthrough aviary for the big birds, and no meerkats darnit! I wanted to see the meerkats, I always go andtalk to look at them. ^^; Also, by the time we got there it was very hot, and most everything was asleep. x.x Clearly better planning was needed.
But! We got to see the cheetah, even if it wouldn't turn around. Or move. (naptime!) and most of the other animals on the African loop - I think we forgot to get a closer look at the elephants and giraffes. And we rode the train! And saw the huuuge fish in the jaguar's exhibit - but no jaguars. x.x Napping and hiding! Most of the cats were, although at least the cheetah and the lions and the bobcat were napping where we could see them. ^^ And we went through the lorikeet aviary - I fed them! First time I tried that, and boy did they like me! :D
Apparently, my earrings are shiiiiny and also my hair is good nesting material. >.>;;;
And we got one to go to Lacey, once they drank most of the food. *bops the birdies* She has shiny earrings too! Just no food. Except sweat. Yum, salty! XD
^_^ Lorikeets don't feel that different from my cat trying to climb on me, actually - just infinitely lighter.
And when we went into the reptile houses, in the Florida and South America loops? The snakes were making up for everyone else being asleep! At least half of them were moving, and we got to see feeding time for the anaconda. :o We'll have to see how the pictures for that turned out, I was trying to conserve my shots but I ran out anyway. ^^;; No kitteh pictures! Snakies though. And frogs and zebra, and I'll be making another post once I get those back. ^_^
And eventually we left, because it had started thundering. >.> But we got to see almost-everything! No otters, though. And no wolf in the Florida exhibit. Stupid heat.
Oooh, the fish! I forgot the fish - no, The Fish. The almost as big as me fish! Seriously - like 5 feet, and Lacey asked a passing zoo-keeper about it, and apparently they get to be about 12 to 15 feet in length. >.> Huuuge!
....I keep having this feeling I'm forgetting something. Something zoo-related. Eh, I will edit if I remember - or stick in the eventual photo entry. ^^
So we head out to the car, and I try to find my way home. On the way, of course, we end up getting hit by the rain, and I had to slow to a crawl. Lacey noticed the sign for Picketville, and we went that way even though I didn't think it was right - I live near but not in! ...except it was right. ^^;; Go Lacey!
The garage-door was open, which was a bit creepy - but it turned out that Larry (and Jeff?) had finally pulled my desk over to the house. It's now sitting just outside the air-conditioned part of the house. There's a word for this I'm sure, but I cannot remember right now.
And then we got to the house, and Lacey got to meet the Dusky-kitteh! *introduces*
Dusky: Mommy!! Food-providing type human! ...hello strange lady. *sniffsniffsniff*
*sniff*
*sniffsniff*
*eventual hyper running about under the impression that we'd come to play with her - or maybe being driven nuts by the smell of birds*
And then we got a lovely bit of drama courtesy of my family. x.x I got a phone call from prison, and the name given was Larry, and I was freaking out a bit. >.< Ended up talking to Dad online and then getting a call back from Dad to say that he'd checked Larry's cellphone and Larry was okay. We think it might have been Jeff, but he can just bite me. x.x
And then I crashed for a bit, while Lacey played online? Didn't sleep nearly long enough though - and I was dreaming that I couldn't sleep. And that the Dusky had gotten in the room and was trying to pull my covers off me. O.o;;
And then we headed out to the mall! :D Because, yeah, we could have gone straight back home - but who sends someone home without feeding them? >:P Not me darnit! ...If I'd been thinking/more awake, I could have cooked. I still have cheesesteak fixings! But I didn't think of that. @.@
So we get to the mall, the one place I was 100% sure where I was going. ^^; And we wandered through the bookstore on our way to getting coffee, and I had a mint frappucino and Lacey had a pumpkin one. She'd never had Starbucks before, it was fun seeing her face light up. ^__^ And then she got a gyro wrap at this one place where I'd eaten before, but so long ago I couldn't remember anything except that I'd liked it. >.> And I went back to Starbucks and got a crumbcake peice when my stomach informed me I hadn't had breakfast. >.>;
There was more chatting and such while we were eating than when we were at the zoo, though.
And we stopped in Suncoast, the store I go to for my anime-videos and Yu-Gi-Oh manga. And Lacey found a cd she wanted, and I found a couple of movies - and I feel slightly bad that I didn't get both of those cds she had. But I didn't want to pressure her either, and augh. Stupid money. *votes for a bartering system, or better yet everything being free* ^^;;
...actually, on the money-thing, I managed to feel not-guilty about spending in general. Just little twinges that I squished. Go me! ^^; The worst thing was the gas, and that was okay - until the misadventure of getting home. >>;;;
And then we got home! Lacey's home, that is, where we said goodbye and chatted for awhile with the inlaw-lady. And I left secure in the knowledge that now it was more the time I'd usually be awake, I would have no trouble getting home. &%$# But I did my not-rant about that already. x.x
