Chain of Memories is still driving me crazy, with the sudden reversals and secrets not quite spelled out yet, and I'm almost through Riku's story!

Okay, some background for those who have not played Kingdom Hearts but don't mind being spoilered - which I will assume you don't, since you're reading Chain of Memories spoilers. Without having played Kingdom Hearts?! What's wrong with you, shoo! ;p

Riku and Sora and Kairi are all growing up on these peaceful calm islands. It is pretty and peaceful, and Riku is apparently bored out of his mind. His eventual escape from the islands? Only opening a door to darkness and letting it in so that it destroys the islands. x.x I have so many problems with that I could throw things.

1. Just because you're not afraid of the dark does not mean you let it devour you. (Which it certainly appears to, when Sora comes looking for Riku and there's this swirling darkness drawing Riku in - what it was like from his point of view I can only imagine.)

2. Just because you want to leave doesn't mean everyone else has to be dragged down with you!

The thing here is, even though I don't agree with cringe in horror at some of the decisions Riku makes, his attitude toward the darkness is cool. He really doesn't seem scared at all, just innocently ferocious - a kid playing with a really cool sword. That lack of fear is a rarity, and probably why I liked him from the beginning - it's just utterly cool, and then he immediately starts in on completely screwing up. Never listen to ominous witches! Especially not ones named Maleficent! Look at that name and ask yourself, can any good come of this? No!

So. Back to Chain of Memories. The Riku whom Sora runs into is a clone. And Sora, being the cuddly little hero-guy he is, is okay with that and wants the clone to be okay and maybe his friend too! And aside from my cringing at some points, there's this one question that left me with.

Where the heck is the real Riku?!

And then the Reverse/Rebirth side begins. :O RIKU!!!

....but is it really Riku or is the start of the clone's story? !!! *insert waiting and poking of tiny adorable Riku-sprite here*
*also much squee over the general kickass that is Riku, who can jump twice as high as Sora and is stronger and just so much cooler than Sora. >:D *

Then Mickey shows up. I squealed, out loud, 'Mickey!!!' Because Riku was last seen on the other side of a door leading to darkness, with King Mickey, therefore this must be the real Riku. Also, you know. Mickey Mouse! :D !

But Riku, and his pseudo philosophical ramblings, and the newly acquired fear of the dark. 'It's like I'm my own enemy.' And me just playing along, wanting to strangle him for turning on the darkness because of the fear. While only everyone else in the game (sans Mickey) tell him to embrace the dark and not fear it, and he's just rejecting it. Again and again. But it's so deep in him that he's developed this sense like the members of the Organization have - they can smell the dark, and recognize people by their scents, and it's just...

So it goes. And I'm kind of resigned to this reaching some cliched ending where Riku is accepted back into the light, blah blah bl-what?!$^%#$&%#

What just happened?! mg, Kairi-girl I love you. *_*

Because you see. Riku is fighting one of the Organization, who is disguised as Sora. 'Sora' blasts him with light from the Keyblade, and Riku is fading, destroyed by the light, and I'm just kind of gritting my teeth a little. Because you know, that's just typical.

Then Kairi shows up, in the sort of vision Sora got in the first game - and tells him not to fear the light or the darkness. To accept the dark, because he can control as long as he's not afraid of it, and that power is his alone. So. Much. Love. (Which is fairly ironic, considering she annoyed me in the first game? But watch that stop me. ;p )

So Riku accepts the power of darkness! And the guy he's facing off against calls him a hypocrite - which he is totally is! XD They've only been trying to like, lure him to the dark side the whole game. And now he's there, only not, and he's still kicking their butts - wheee!

Onward to meet Namine, the memory-stealing witch who has called herself Kairi's shadow. ...this can't be good. Really it can't.

ETA: It was Namine?! And she smells like Kairi. And that's it?! O.o

On the other hand, go Riku! On to... what, beat Ansem? Again? >.>

Meanwhile I have bought pots for both my sequoia seeds and some catnip and mint seeds I bought while hunting a pot. Because you know, why not? Planting sometime tonight. Also vaccumming, and recovering from the end of Chain of Memories, which I am about to start playing towards. And who knows what else! Mmmm, weekend.
