Okay, so.

Star Trek!

ETA: It is possibly too late, but not many people read me so - spoilers here.

...They are spoilers, but not as we know them.

Seriously. I expect squee from other planets, dammit!

No takebacks. omg, Amanda. :( I kept thinking they were going to fix it, and yet I'm relieved they didn't, because this universe, this beautiful awesome alternate universe could not exist if they'd done so - and I want more.

Okay, and you know, I have always slightly disliked Kirk but I love this one! Mostly because there is not... I don't know, I wasn't getting the obnoxious cockiness that I got from TOS. Just this angry, angry "I am right because I AM! I see what's happening here, I can do this if you GET OUT OF MY WAY!"

And it helps probably that I have been thinking a lot about what I like in characters and stories and this movie is so full of That Moment, where a character listens to what they know (or feel) is right and they just Do It. It is Bones smuggling Kirk onto the Enterprise and Chekhov realizing he can pull off this impossible transport and hauling ass down there and Kirk and his Plan To Save Earth! No Seriously Shut Up And Listen To James Tiberius Kirk, Universe!

And his tearing into Spock, and the way he does not hold back. And I am annoyed at myself, because I see how this will (or could, watch as I hold onto my frail hope) develop into the cockiness that makes me want to kick him, and yet I still love it. XD And it is so not helping that, this rewarding him with Captaincy. Not that he doesn't deserve it, but. Dammit I don't want this Kirk to turn into his annoyingly cocky older self. -.-

Also. Also also also. Spock/Nyota OTP. I cannot even begin to say how much I love this. LOVE. THIS. Because, dude, I remember crushing on both of them when I was younger, only I was ignorant enough of myself not to understand it was a crush on Uhura - I just. I just knew I wanted to be her when I grew up, she was So Awesome. Languages, people. Genius, gorgeous, classy lady with a passion for languages. And music! And languages.

And I. Just. Cheered a little every time she flirted with/teased Spock but the way TOS was it never felt like it could be real.

It is So Real in this reality it's making me cry tears of joy. So Much Love, I don't even know. I don't have words, go read mekosuchinae instead. She is bringing the love! ^_____^

And. Um. Booones! ZOMG, Bones. Who was in his own right a bit of an Older Guy!crush. Like, like, the kind of guy you imagine settling down with. Who is not that interesting when you're young, but now? mmmmm. ...if you can live with the bitching and the moaning, because yeah. I wonder how they ended up divorced? ;p I knew it was him before I saw him, I know McCoy and his bitchery! XD I smirked because people behind me in the theater did not realize until after me, but hi - older guy? Griping about flying and going into medical detail about all the horrible things that could happen? Who else could it have been? :D

He likes Spock! XD And, omg, for all my disliking of Kirk and my essentially ignoring of the Kirk/Spock friendship, I loved his friendship with Spock. I love the griping and the misunderstandings and the fact that they both cared even though communication between them was verbal sparring. They're the friends who constantly punch each other, people! With words. XD

Also. Someone take away the hyposprays, he's being a little trigger happy there! :P "I can fix this!"

And, and eeee younger characters. Little Spock kicking ass in defense of his parents! <3 Kirk wrecking the car, who else thought it was going to go off the cliff with him in it? o.o

And. I am sure there are a hundred other little things that I will remember the awesomeness of later, but right now for possibly petty mean gloating reasons of my own my mind keeps sticking on Spock and Uhura making out on the transported pad while Kirk realizes he doesn't get the girl. THE WIN!!! It glows with the warmth of a glorious new day.

Good lord I need a Star Trek icon. Icon found! Perhaps later as more are made I will find another. But it too will be of my shiny new OTP. *.* Even better icon! I Heart This Scene! When do we get the icons of Kirk's expression? >:D
