So. Back to where I was at, with BoF3.
One of the many huge problems I have with this, even though I love it, is the pointless character death. There is no reason for Teepo to die!
Even the trouble that splits up your first 3 characters, there's an in-game solution for! And I don't mean, cleverly writing a way around it, I mean: You lack the firepower to win the battle that causes their seperation. Rei could've been plenty of firepower for that, except that you can't control him when he's a weretiger: well there's a spell for that! Which you can learn at that time! It's there so that when you do get him back and find out about the were-tiger thing, you can control him! >.< And worse, the fact you wouldn't think to use that because you don't know about it then?
Teepo and Ryu have premontions/phrophetic dreams! Later encounters suggest that it's a species trait for them!
And the writers could have done better with this, i'm sure they could. They handled Garr's death just fine. Granted , it was a differant situation, but still. Garr's death was sad but acceptable; Teepo's hurt.
>:/ So, start with Teepo dreaming of the were-tiger, and the way to control it, as he's far more the sorceror-warrior than Ryu...
Now that was one of the things that I loved about this: Ryu, main character and Chosen One, as the healer instead of the warrior. ^^ Got to love the little healer getting caught up in trouble generated by his hot-headed friends. *huggles Ryu*
Teepo: Hey! I thought I was your favorite, here!
Me: Yeah, but there's no denying you don't know how to keep your mouth shut. Or how to tell when something is a Bad Idea. Like, robbing ghost-infested mansions which belong to mob-affliated mayors? On the suggestion of Distinctly Shady Character?! Bad Idea!!! << >> Then again, you are thieves in the first place...
Last note, other problems: Rei has no backstory of his own; all we know is he was there in the woods and adopted Teepo first, then Ryu when he shows up.
Once the guys have defeated Balio and Sunder, should they go straight to Wnydia or end up meeting Momo first?
What to do about Garr? He was okay-ish when he found one Brood. If he meets them together, he'll know they're both Brood, I think he can sense that... really need to finish playing through the game. :D But how would he react if he thought he'd found an infestation, rather than a lone survivor? hmm.....
Also, as I was informed by someone that this was not, in fact, a Note to Self, but rather, a Life Lesson: Those who spawn evil plots should not be counted upon to give sympathy to the victims thereof.
