Absolutely stupid day yesterday. Not hugely horrible, but just long and draining, and... have I ever mentioned that I do not like people as a whole? Individuals, yes, but 'goodwill towards men' only in the abstract and with 'men' as a whole far, far away from me. This is why I was willing to try a night shift job in the first place - I reasoned than even if it was profitable enough for them to be able to keep the store open 24/7, there had to be less people than in the day time.

But now, it is the Christmas holidays, that wonderful time of cheer when even the night shift is as busy as the day. x.x;;;

<< I was sneaky, though. When they asked for someone to do the comp rail, I jumped on it. 'Comp rail' = 'walk all the store, picking up x number of each item to bring to the front and shelve'. And I was at that point, where I'd rather walk until my feet started to hurt a bit, than have to restrain myself from slapping one more stupid person. And the thing that really aggravates me, is it's just - people will ask for directions for things before looking around. Half the time, they'll ask for things that are like, 2 feet away from them and then laugh when I point it. << Yes, soo funny you decided to be stupid and waste time for both of us.

I'm not even going to say anything about the cranky people, except... There is this wonderful lady at work (and I can't remember her name, which I hate but then I've always been bad with names x.x This includes my own middle one, which I never got firmly in my head until about high school - I kept giving people my sister's middle name. << Okay, now that I think about that - XD )

Where was I? Oh yes - she is a nice person, and always helpful/polite/relatively cheerful. So she comes through my line, picking up something for lunch, and just looking drained, and the conversation went something like this: (reconstruction)

Her: How are you?

Me: (Outloud) Oh, fine. (Very quietly, as there are people behind her) I would feel a lot better if I were allowed to slap certain people, though.

Her: *slight grin, shaking her head* You know, I have never in my life really wanted to slap anyone, but today? I'm that* close to it. *=*little pincing fingers motion*

Me: (a sec later, as she's about to leave) You know, the problem is that some of these people leave thier common sense, ability to read, and manners, at the door when they come in here.

But at least I made her laugh? ^^

And now I have gone rambling on about work far, far longer than I ever meant to. <<;;;

But! When I got home in the morning there were cartoons, and when I woke up ? There was a beautiful card for me! :D Christmas card from luckykitty! *hugs it*

Only, not literally as that would destroy it and then I would cry. << Hmmm... *sets it up standing next to her computer, with the loverly sketch laid in front of it* ^_^ And two fics from Traces of the Beast, too, which considering the sketch itself is of Lucius and Peter - ^___^

*armors herself with thought of pretty card, sketch, and ficcies to be re-read before running off to work*
