spokeA thing I have learned from Stargate: Atlantis. In a round-about way.
See, I hate having my name forgotten, or mispronounced, etc. all stabbed with forks. Hate that.
Only in reading someone's fic, and recognizing the people identification system playing out behind Rodney's thoughts (and come to think of it, we've seen him doing that out loud while butchering some poor scientist's name...) did it occur to me: I do that. Ergo I am one of those annoying name-mangling people.
Must now gouge my eyes out. Or something appropriate to such horror.
P.S. I hate you, Rodney McKay. With the hatred of a thousand fresh-squeezed lemons!
